this is it in the nutshell
    i am based in EU
i have NTSC PS3 that worked well up until a year ago with my Philips tv
now all of the sudden on HDMI it says "unsupported video format"...i have 2 philips tvs...LCD and CRT...both arent working

friend has samsung and LG, and PS3 works on there, so i guess i just have some major bad luck

now...can somehow FW be hacked to help me out on this problem? like to turn off handshake or something...of course, the sony responded that i have been incredibly lucky that ps3 worked that long lol

so if anyone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it

Try a shorter HDMI cable. This fixed my issues.

If puretruth's suggestion doesn't help, then here's a way. (shorter cables cause less overall resistance)

edit your xregistry.sys to turn your system NTSC based. (idk the exact id)
