playtv +jailbroken ps3 dilema

Hey everyone,

Wasn't to sure where to post this so i thought this would be the best place to start.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section....Anyways

I've just successfully downgraded my ps3 from 3.50 to 3.41, have ps3 break running and have jailbroken my ps3 successfully, and have my firmware spoofed to 3.55.

I can install playtv and it all goes fine. But when i go to load playtv it hangs at the splash screen.

I've spent about a week crawling google and forums and haven't really found anything useful.

Just wondering if anyone has come across this, or maybe some possibilities that may help me get it working again.

I'm contemplating that it maybe the modified 3.41 pup i downgraded to.

So at last ditch effort i will downgrade my ps3 below 3.41 and then upgrade back to 3.41 using the official firmware to see if that works.

Have tried safe mode and reformating the ps3, reinstalling playtv a few times. But nothing seems to work, it still hangs at that bloody evil splash screen and then my ps3 crashes.

Can't return the xmb menu i have to do a hard shut down by pulling out the power cable (Which i really don't like doing at all)

Lol help me keep my mrs happy by trying to figure this out.

Will write up a tutorial if i can figure this one out as i've seen a heap of other people with this problem as well but there seems to be no solutions

Just an update to all the people out there in internet land.

If anyone comes across this problem i have figured out the solution myself.

Firstly when you down grade you will be downgrading to a modified pup.

So you will be sitting a modified version of 3.41 firmware.

You must downgrade further down before 3.41 then upgrade the firmware using the OFFICIAL 3.41 firmware.

Once you have done that, you can go ahead and install all your homebrew apps like ps3 ftp, backup manager and all that stuff.

That is the reason why playtv was hanging and not booting past the splash screen, (As i was still sitting on the modified 3.41 firmware).

Thought i would post this up as there are heaps of people out there having the exact same problem as me, so no need to upgrade or bang your head up against a wall.

Follow those simple steps and you will be away laughing again.

Sorry for the quick tutorial as i'm ftping stuff over to my internal hd

I get the splash screen freeze when I'm in Jailbreak mode, but I've never downgraded my console, it's always been 3.41. Don't get the problem in retail mode though.

I just Brought PlayTV for my PS3 Slim
and it wont work unless I update the system firmware with 3.42
It comes with the disc but wants to update my system?

is there anyway around this?
is there a playTV software for v 3.41? That I can Download
I am In New Zealand

You should be able to download and run a dump of the original disc through one of the loaders, that definitely works on 3.41.

Hey dude, i'm in new zealand as well. The play tv disc i have also wants you to update to 3.42.

Have you jailbroken your ps3?

If so, just spoof your firmware to 3.55 and it wont bother you for an update as it thinks you are already updated past 3.55.

Keep in mind you can always downgrade from 3.50 down to 3.41 if you want to update just to tinker with play tv like i did (You know boys and there toys).

So yeah just need to know if you have jailbroken your ps3? If not, get a jailbreak dongle, you can find them on trade me for next to nothing.

Dont have a dongle Yet but I have 1 coming from China,
if that 1 doesn't work ill pick 1 up from off trademe
I was wondering if that spoofing to 3.55 would work. (glad it does )

No problem dude, took me a while to get it working but it did.

You can update to 3.42 and use playtv for now untill your dongle arrives.

Just downgrade down past 3.41 and then upgrade back up to 3.41 with the official firmware update.

Then spoof your firmware then you wont be bothered with that nasty 3.42 update.

Also good things are on the way, we will get full blown cfw shortly with all the bells and whistles since ps3 has been fully owned

I also suffer from the splash screen crash when loading PlayTV in JB mode, downgrading doesn't appear to be the problem as I've never downgraded my PS3 but still get the error.

Does anyone know of a fix to run PlayTV in JB mode?
