Play TV series link update-USB backup

I have purchased the upgrade update for play tv from psn and as you may or may not know but the current firmware for play tv is very unstable so it is likely that I will have to reinstall this update at a later date.

Now what I'm wanting to do is backup/store this update on my USB stick as connection to psn will expire eventually for us on 3.55 and I won't be able to access my purchased content/updates

Does anyone have any help or advice about if this can be done?

Wont you also need psn access to update playtv when the next firmware fix is released?

The update from psn is an optional upgrade. The software can be upgraded similar to the way we can with games without psn.
I am wanting an offline way of installing my purchased upgrade for play tv.
