Well, lets get it playing over NTFS external HDD first before we even talk of playing over network. lol
I want ntfs support so bad please someone make this happen!!!
Unlikely, combined latency (or as you teen age hooligans wrongly call it "lag"). If it were to copy over all the game data in 1 go before you play then year sure, but streaming the files as you play a game is no way going to work over a network. You haven't just got the latency from the network interface which is very low and not the point. The point is...
1. Request for data over network
2. Request arrives at NAS\DAS
3. NAS reads data from drive - Nearly all DAS\NAS are RAID solutions, and don't have fast processors.
4. Sends data to PS3...
This is going to add up to more than the 0.1-0.2 seconds required for such a featue to work correctly. Resulting in lypsynch issues, pop in, skipping, stuttering.
You'll see a pig fly before this works.
