Planning on buying a ps3 for cheap and then fixing it and then selling it again with cfw (you know higher price)

But anyways how long does the YLOD repair guys actually fix the problem?

    Thanks again

BQ: Or would it be better to avoid the YLOD ps3 and just buy a disk read error ps3

i personally wouldnt feel right knowing that i re-sold a previously ylod system to an unknowing "victim". i know it's "buyer beware", but i also believe "what comes around, goes around". a ylod system suffered a massive system/hardware failure - most likely caused by overheating. even if you properly re-balled the gpu, the system still overheated at one point. pretty much means everything (esp chips associated with the graphics processor) are stressed... which means that yes, it will fail again. who knows how long it'll last... i just know it wouldnt sit well with ME, knowing that i was selling faulty equipment.

disk read error ps3s are easy fixes, however, the rising costs for the SINGLE laser ps3's bluray lens assy would mean your asking price (to make a profit) would approach the cost of a new system.... it then becomes a strategy on whether to buy used (without warranty, possibly without controller, etc) or buy new (WITH warranty, controller, etc)

Look, personally i'd buy a reflowed/reballed/'rethermaled'/etc PS3 as long as it it powering on and working AND the repair was recent.

Then, i'd install a fan controller/mod and increase fan speed. Why does a YLOD first occur? Because of heat damage.

So if the YLOD is repaired, and you have a fan mod with increased airflow and it remains cool, then why should there be reason to suspect a YLOD happening again?
