I am currently using a slim ps3 with ps3go; and as far as I know, there should be no trace left as long as I format the hard drive or delete the folder with games on if I ever want to be a legal ps3 user again.

The same can't be said about cfw, I heard story that it can be detected and psn can ban you for it. Now the question is, am I right or wrong; in term of normal jailbreak is reversible and cfw is irreversible?

The main reason is that I wish to play little big planet 2, and I got the legal disk and collector edition and oen of the big point of lbp is the online downloadable level. If I want to play that, I need to upgrade to fw 3.55 or stuck with offline mode with 3.41. What should I do?

If you want to play online without worry upgrade to ofw 3.55 and enjoy. All of your games will work since it is the latest firmware.

If you want homebrew, the safest avenue is probably Geohot's. If/when you're actually using homebrew and you're paranoid, you'll probably want to ftp (i.e. install the signed ftp pkg) into your PS3 and manually delete the push lists that record what you've been playing.

Otherwise, what have you got to lose? You're not a pirating faggot like the majority of users so I imagine the only thing you'll have to worry about is pushlists and whatever else is phoned home to Sony whenever you use homebrew.

I guess what I want to say is:

The only method to safely play with online is to upgrade to official 3.55? After that, if I want to go to dark side again, go to CFW 3.55 but it would be likely a one way trip since sony can detect cfw?

They can detect you even using a dongle bud and not on PSN. The PS3 reports to Sony on every boot, so they already have you logged on 3.41. There is no "safe" homebrew/CFW method at all. Even if you have no PSN account it will still report to Sony. There are apps to wipe data

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

and you can manually remove your list of played games, I think multiman does this upon every start up now. I just clear my history when I can and I don't go online with managers at all. Don't think Sony will ban just think they will do a FW update to stay ahead of pirates even if it means weekly updates.
