P3go just arrived, up to date tutorial for first time user ? (NOOB) –

My P3go just arrived and although I have been lurking these forums for quite some time and I think I have a rough idea how it all works I would like some help if possible.
It seams every day something new happens and I have tries searching for an up to date "beginners guide to the p3go" but had no luck, if anyone can point me to an up to date guide I can use that would be superb !
I also realise many users here get sick of the same noob questions so if you feel this way just ignore this thread if you can.
The ps3 is a launch day phat with 3.41 firmware installed, it also has a bunch of psn content I have bought over the years if this makes any difference.
So I have my p3go and I assume the files on it are outdated by now ?
I just want a step by step idiots guide on using the p3go with my ps3.
I have an external hard drive, will this be suitable to install the backup loader or whatever it is I need ?
Many thanks for any help given and I do apologise if my noob questions offend anyone but as I say instead of getting your panties in a bunch just skip past this thread

okay....first off u cud update ur p3go to the latest firmware v10 from gamebox.hk
do this by putting the update.bin file on the a micro sd card and then just reinseting the p3go into the usb port
the file should be deleted if the update was successful....
otherwise place the update.bin file on the root of the p3go's internal drive and reinsert it which should update it....
the p3go has hermes v4b with 3.50 spoof and pl3 too
to use hermes ,jailbreak without a microsd card inserted
to use PL3 jailbreak with the microsd card inserted
u could also use any custom payload by renaming the hex file to psgroove.hex and placing it on the root of the internal memory
about backup managers, there are many
u could check them out in the PS3 game backup section
my personal favourite is multiman....
all backup managers need to be installed using their pkg file
just place the pkg file on a usb drive or on the internal memory of the p3go itself
upon jailbreaking ur ps3,u will see an install package icon under games
use this to install the backup managers
once installed u will be able backup games and play them .....
games can be backed up to either the internal or to external drives(formatted to fat32).
however games having files >4gb can only be backed up to the internal drive
once u have backed up a game , it should show in the backup manager
some backups require a bd game disc to be inserted inorder to work and might mess up the system if run discless...
read up on the games at psjcl.com and in the forum to know more
when a game is selected from the backup manager, it will replace the game inserted
launch it by clicking on disc icon
others can be directly launched without a disc by selecting /app_home/PS3_Game/

hmmm, it seams I have a problem !
I didn't notice this the first time I plugged it into my pc but after plugging it into my laptop it only shows one drive in windows and fails to install drivers for one of the drives, windows then suggests I scan and fix the drive.
Anyone know what I should do or what the problem is ?

is it the internal or the micro sd drive giving u the problem???
also which version r u using??

I don1t have a micro SD card so I am not sure about that but even so shouldn't I see 2 separate drives show up in windows ?
One for payloads and one for the backup managers and what not, the drive showing up is the one that contains the backup manager stuff.
on the drive that shows up there is a text file called 2010.10.26 update if that's what you mean by version.
also when I right click the p3go in my computer then go to Hardware at the bottom of the list I see these listed.
XGAMER P3GO TF CARD USB Device
XGAMER P3GO USB-DISK USB Dvice
My computer and laptop both run windows 7 x64 if that matters.

the drive being detected is the internal one
it should show u both the drives even if you do not have a card inserted though
anyways u will need to get a microsd card to update to the latest version since ur firmware is pretty old
after that updates will be done using the internal memory
i suggest checking with a card inserted,
u shd have one (most phones use microsd these days)
or u cud borrow one from a frnd

Right, got a 2gb micro SD card and it was showing up no problem, formatted it to fat32, put the update bin on it from the gamebox site and its now showing up as V09, the tutorial linked above says his is V10 ?
Is the update on the Gamebox site out of date or something ?
Also can someone confirm how I put a different hex on.
I have a few games that require spoofed 3.50
So please correct me if I am wrong, the hex I download needs to be renamed to psgroove.hex and is placed in the same place I put the backup manager and what not, I have successfully updated the backup managers and ftp program that was on btw.
Also and I do apologise for my noobishness its just that I don't fancy bricking my p3go or anything like that, what is the best hex to use ?
I only require 3.50 spoof and of course to be able to play my backups and possibly run a few emulators as I like the look of some of the homebrew emu`s.
I have this one (it came with the update I got from Gamebox)
PIC18F-iLLNESS-Hermesv4b-PSN-DBG_STN-3.50_SPOOF-LEDB145C0-1-PICDEM.hex
Is this suitable and is it the latest and most stable hex I can use ?
Many many thanks for helping me out everyone !
