First impressions - Feels like a nice sturdy and well made product, matt/rubberized finish and texture, micro sd card is spring loaded.
Could you tell us whats written on the chip under the "big white circle led"?
I lifted that white circle up (I'm pretty sure it's just the blue light that come's on when you plug it in and sort of snapped it but it still comes on when i plug it in - phew - looks cool)
Anyway sorry but there wasn't anything written on the chip underneath - I might try pulling up the light again to take a pic just for proof later...but i can assure you there wasn't anything written on it.
Anyway here's some screenshots of what should greet you when you plug it into your computer:
Shows up as two drives - one should be the onboard memory and the other your micro sd card memory
This is the capacity of the onboard memory according to windows
My device seems to have already have the necessary firmware installed (22.10.2010 - the latest is the 26th on their site, gamebox.hk)
I'll attach the text file that explains how we should update - basically put the firmware file released by them onto a micro sd and then plug it into your computer for a few seconds until a red and blue light come on.
Also you might want to know that in the PS3_GAME folder you see there a covers folder which contains quite a few covers as well as game manager related stuff from what I can tell.
mine p3go is "on way" from china to italy
I shoul receive it in 5-10 days......
@dip86 thanks for clarification on the updating process. Was wondering how it works though.
Try out the "dual boot" thing they talk about. I don't get it is it able to boot Hermes and PL3 at the same time by just pressing a button for one to boot or arranging/naming the files in a specific order.
Ok I tried updating it with the latest update '20101026 3.42Fixed.rar' off their site by putting the bin file onto a micro sd card in the device, then unplugging then plugging in again and it did what it said it would do -red and blue lights flashed for a while until they both remained on - so updated
I checked the f: where the game manager stuff is and nothing changed here. The update bin file that was on the root of the g: however was no longer present - assuming it's updated some chip inside then deleted itself to prevent constant updating when you plug it in.
I already tried it before, as it came, with my 3.41 slim ps3 and it worked no problem and then installed their game manager which looks ok but quite basic in terms of functionality (start game, copy game, exit) so I'll stick with gaia for now.
I'll try it now I've updated it with the micro sd card still inside and see if there's any difference - is there any way to tell which one it's loaded - hermes or PL3?
(I'm not really sure how this whole dual boot thing is supposed to work - maybe it installs both hermes and pl3 to its memory and then uses hermes if there isn't a micro sd inside and vice versa?)
Is there a manager that only works with a particular payload or shows what payload has been used? That's probably the easiest way of seeing what payload has been loaded?
