Overheating can be fixed by replacing the fans, clearing dust or re-applying thermal paste. It's not guaranteed though. You may want to ask the seller how he/she knows that it's overheating. What are the symptoms? Is it doing the yellow light of death?

seems like that ps3 has stand in a hot place. Just place it where it can get air and blow out air free. My sisters boyfriend had it in the videostand and backside melted. And then is stuppid to ask how that could happend lol

Try this for sure. I bought an 80gb phat model and took everything apart. Cleaned the fans and blew out all dust. I then removed and replaced the thermal paste on both the cpu and gpu. I had some Arctic Silver 5 laying around and it seems to work well. Been over 2 years now and still runs like a champ.

I also put 4 rubber washers under the PS3 at each corner. The washers are about 1/2" thick. I figured it was best for the heat to go somewhere instead of focusing on that one spot.
Please always assume I am joking, because I always am. Except for right now..in this sig...I am serious. Seriously!
