Dear ?,

No one wants to talk about something that'll be useful (as was essential to unlocking the PS3)... they just want to follow the latest firmware and play backups.

No, it's because otheros is pointless now.
They're working on a dual boot flash so we can choose to load either firmware or linux at boot.

I hope that hackers focus on usefull things like otheros instead of piracy.

Surely it must be easier to get OtherOS back rather than full linux short term?

I'm really looking forward to full Linux on PS3 but it has been in dev for a while, but it still relies on netbooting. Since then we've had multiple Brickwares and more people are concerned with backups than anything else, its like ps3backupdisk.com lately.

OtherOS is not pointless until linux is fully available.

The reason why nobody has added otherOS to the firmware is that fail0verflow AbestOS will run any flavor of PPC linux with full access to the seventh cell core and RSX graphics card

fail0verflow will released their tools to run Linux maybe this month or the next.

They made the homebrew channel for the wii so they don't release hacks to satisfy your needs.

Right now the release schedule is: when it is done.

OtherOS is not pointless until linux is fully available.

No the fail over flow linux will run straight off the HDD. It does not require netbooting. It's still in development because software can't be programmed overnight especially what they are trying to accomplish. They are writing their own boot loader for it and everything. Patience is a virtue.

If you want OtherOS as soon as possible downgrade to 3.15. That is your only option until fail release their version. Sony will never reimpliment it.

I hope that I can downgrade to 3.15, but I have slim which dont support otheros.

They do, is just that those new models already came with the update that eliminates the otheros.
