ok this could be a totally stupid question, im not a total noob but not far off it.
Whats the difference between a jailbroken OFW and a CFW? Do you need a CFW on 3.55 to run Home bew or just Backup Managers?
And last stupid question whats the diff between a normal version and a stealth version?

Dude dont take this the wrong way cause im really trying to help.

Go read, read some more, and then when you think you got it all figured out go read some more.

All the answers to your questions can be found in this forum, and if for some reason you cant figure out this insanely easy stuff then you dont need to mess with it cause you will probly mess something up.

Just search and read is all i can say.

Sorry to break it to you, but you dont seem to have a grasp on the basics, whether you like it or not you are coming off as a noob.
I agree with the other gentleman, you need to do some reading to get yourself informed before you do anything else.
    ...Anyways praise Jesus

why so harsh, he only asked a question and wasn't intended to flash his ps3 or jb.

for 3.41fw jailbreak you need a dongle with psgroove or something and you need to press power and then eject to initiate the jailbreak when you start the ps3.
for cfw you don't need any dongle or power/eject sequence, only install the cfw and your done. the effect is the same right now, thus you can run unsigned code on either method with integrated payload.

    edit
stealth means that sony can't trace the game ID or launch of the homebrews.

I agree to a certain extent, but too much reading may get confusing.

I mean, I wanted to flash a WD 320GB HDD for use in a 360, now I've done it before with a 160GB WD HDD, however the 250GB needs to be treated differently (Obviously the FW is different, but also the tools used), things got a bit confusing as I couldn't find a decent guide besides partial guides and problems and the guides for the previous 120GB HDD hack, which are obsolete for the 250GB HDD.
After spending some time on google I found a guide which had links to all the tools needed and a great step-by-step tutorial, it couldn't get any easier than that.

So yeah, do some reading, but try to keep track of current developments, and don't get lost in old stuff.

Yes thanks tpryor is was a bit harsh, just a simple question. Frankly those people who answer with "read the forums" clearly have nothign better to do than sit and read thorugh thousands of posts. In the words of Capt Kirk "Get a life"

Now to the one helpful person out there many thanks. I get you dont have to press eject and have the dongle and all that etc. Are these CFW's literally a custom built firware or just the OFW with some patches to enable the jailbreak options etc.
