    Alright here's my senerio:
I have a 3d blu ray movie, and there are multiple children living in my home.
the one true way to avoid having them rendered useless is of course, to back them up onto a harddrive.
problem is- i cant find a media player that supports a 16gig mkv file. is there one out? or should i try my hand at installing xbmc linux?

if i must install linux, can someone point me in the right direction as to doing this?

    -----------------------------------------------
edit: storing the 16gig file onto an ntfs external harddrive, and then plugging it into the ps3 and attempting to stream it

split your .mkv file using winrar, then put your splitted .mkv file in your external hdd (FAT32) and then play your movie in showtime

Showtime through multiMAN makes use of the NTFS driver, click on the movie in multiMAN, then multiMAN caches the movie to internal, plays the movie through Showtime plug-in & then erases it when finished.

This is stupid, if showtimes can read ntfs on an hd ie fast access & read/write why the hell does it need to cache on another hd ?

The NTFS driver for PS3 is only read access & has only been implemented into multiMAN, if you want more or better support you have 2 choices 1) Write a better driver 2) implement it into CFW; or even better do both

Note: Please read, I believe I said multiMAN & Showtime plug-in
