(NOT WORKING) "Play PS3 Backup Games from a DVD-R!" (NOT WORKING)

Jamal94 one of our new psx-scene members, after experimenting with his PS3 and new jailbreak device, has found out that once you backup your original PS3 game via the "backup manager" to an USB HDD, and then transfer the game to your PC, and burn it onto a normal DVD-R disc (if the game is small enough!), you can then insert it back into your jailbroken PS3 and play it.

You must ask why? -- Is this news! -- The amazing thing that Jamal94 found out with his experiment is, that games that previously had major problems with game updates, save files, and not loading via your USB HDD, now play perfectly without any problems, when running via "backup manager" on a burned DVD-R!

Play PS3 Backup game disc!

Requirements:

1) Jailbroken PS3 with Backup Manager, running v3.41 firmware!
2) Any Original Game Disc or Any Jailbroken game files
3) Nero or any similar program on your PC.
4) USB HDD

If you have your jailbroken game files skip to step 4

Step1: Launch Backup Manager and Backup the original disc to the Ext. HDD

Step2: Plug the Usb HDD to the pc and Browse to "X:/GAMEZ/[title_id] Ex. "G:/GAMEZ/BLES00188"

Step3: Copy the contents of the [TITLE_ID] DIRECTORY to New folder on your desktop
* Contents of [title_id] a)PS3_DISC.sfb B) PS3_UPDATE C)PS3_GAME

Step4: Burn the Contents of the jailbroken game to any type of disc
* Contents of [title_id] a)PS3_DISC.sfb B) PS3_UPDATE C)PS3_GAME

Step5: Insert the Disc in the Jailbroken PS3

Step6: Launch Backup Manager and load the Disk
* Note: The disc icon will not appear

Now it should launch and you can update and play without any problems!

NOTES:

1) You can use Internal Hdd and copy the files using FTP Homebrew.

2) It only can read the jailbroken games that was ripped from discs using backup manager. It can't read a game that was not backed up by backup manager.

3) If the backup manager could not read the disc, then try launching the backup manager first, then insert the disc. If this still doesn't work, insert the disc while you are at the XMB and wait until the PS3 reads it as a data disc, then launch backup manager.

4) It has been confirmed by MRelectro713 that it works with updates and saves with no problems.

UPDATE:

VARIOUS REPORTS SUGGEST IT WORKS ONLY WITH THE "RDX BACKUP MANAGER" -- Don't ask where to find it, google it!

Remember: If the backup manager could not read the disc, then try launching the backup manager first, then insert the disc. If this still doesn't work, insert the disc while you are at the XMB and wait until the PS3 reads it as a data disc, then launch backup manager, the backup manager should be the rdx_manager version , and the game will have the same name not dev_bd

BUT:

VARIOUS REPORTS ALSO CLAIM IT DOES NOT WORK!

More solid info is needed, please read the whole thread, I will update this post once CONFIRMED solid info is found, on type of media, burner settings, etc. -- So that people don't end up with a stack of costly drink coasters!

UPDATE2: WELL GUYS I THINK IT IS GOING TO BE SAD NEWS BUT I JUST READ THE COMMENTS at this thread some saying it z fake, etc and 2 people said it z working, well i just took my cam out to do a video, but i read a comment that saying it z working but the game itself should be also installed on the hdd so when i tried to remove the game it did not work sorry maybe a lot will hate me r8 now but i was only trying to help and share it with u guys because i was excited but then i copied fight night roud 3 and i tried the method + the game installed on the hdd but it did not work so it z weird like it worked with burout but not with fight night round 3 idk, but there is also gd news for the people that there bluray drive cant read bluray disc only dvd (bluray drive brick), and kind of for everyone the news is u canplay the backup manager games without original disc but u need a disc burned like the method above so u need rdx_manager + the disk
u insert the disc at the xmb the disc will be shown as data disc then go to the backup manager (rdx_version) select your game and it will boot directly to it , and again sorry 4 the bad news i did not mean to fake things and i'm not also lier but it just worked with one game + installed on the hdd or u can use the original backup manager but u have to do couple of steps before as shown in the video of someone in page 9.
i think it z possibe to happen but they should edit slightly the backup manager or smthg like that so hackers plz try to know how the backup manager works !!!

UPDATE 3: SOME OF POSTS SAYING THAT WHEN THEY SELECTED THE DISK IT BOOTED BACK TO THE XMB , IF THEY R 100% SURE THEY R BOOTING FROM THE DISC THEN TRY RDX_MANAGER BECAUSE IT WILL BOOT DIRECTLY TO THE GAME AND PLZ TELL US IF IT WORKED OR ETC AND THE TYPE OF DISK AND WHICH GAME ETC BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK AS I THOUGHT

well, maybe like i did try it now and it worked with burnout paradise eur on my usa ps3 , i did not try updates or anything maybe because it z from the disc it will run with updates so plz someone try that

I'm testing this now, nice find. I'll update in a few minutes. I have a game burning now.

UPDATE: Working with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2! Game is pretty small and it fits on a DVD-R

Going to try this method out to see if it works. Post back when i find out.

Edit: Waiting for another backup to finish, got my disc burned. But from what i understand is that you needed an official disc for the backup manager to work. But we will see. Maybe we just need to files for it work. Should have an answer in about 10 mins.

I just started up my PS3 with the disc in there, went to backup manager and launched it.

Yes, it worked with the updates and it loaded a gamesave without any problems

so basically doing this method is just creating a dummy disc using certain files then launching games from the backup manager without having a retail copy game inside.
