    Hi,

I haven't followed the scene much lately but just found that u can install CFW on the ps3 now cos the key got leak.

Can some tell if I need
    -a ps3 JB dongle

Do we need to be on official 3.55 first..
Or do u just install the 3.55 CFW on top of a official 3.41 etc...

    Also which CFW is best?

And also someone point me to a good guide

    thanks.

    3.41 >> 3.55 OFW >> Kmeaw CFW

    Do in recovery mode

Full Instructions on how to install CFW,backup games and play them 2!!!

    Instructions:
    Okay.. Hi guys

1.Today im ganna show you how to install you CFW to your
playstation and then how to play the backed up files you put on a external hardrive or even the game you copied to you playstation

2.What you are going to need
    -Patched PUP for Kmeaw CFW
    (http://www.multiupload.com/YELRX9JWT7);

    -lv2 patcher package
    (http://kmeaw.com/tmp/lv2.pkg – DIRECT LINK)

    -multiMAN 01 12 05.pkg
(Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!)

-(In case you get black screen when trying to play game use
    this tool : FIX_PERMISSIONS_Waninkoko_Kmeaw_CFW_3.55.pkg) LATER!!

3.Okay first… you MUST have the OFW 3.55 installed!!
If you need it, download from here: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

4.Ok, so you are on 3.55 OFW, now let’s get started.

    1. Download the patched PUP for Kmeaw CFW.(If you dont already have it)
    2. Put it in your USB flash drive on folder path like this “x:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP”
    3. Connect your USB drive to your PS3. (Your usb drive must be formated to FAT)
    4. Go to the System Update, you can find it on Settings menu.
    5. Pick “Update via Storage Media”.
    6. The rest should be obvious.
    7. After you have finished the installation, your PS3 will boot. Now, you should see the “app_home” and “Install Packages” options in the “Game” menu.
    8. Put the “lv2 patcher package” and the “multiMAN 01 12 05.pkg” onto your USB flash drive.
    9. Then, go to “Install Packages” and install the lv2 patcher and multiMAN 01 12 05.(ON your PS3)
    10. There will be new item’s popped up in your GAME menu, it is the lv2 patcher and multiMAN 01 12 05 (Backup manager).
    11. Start the lv2 patcher, after it is a success, exit it. You need to repeat this step each time you boot the PS3 before you can start the backup manager.
12.To backup your games from a disk, just open the backup manager(After you opened the lv2 patcher) and press copy, it will ask you if you want to copy to
your internal hardrive, just say yes and it will copy.. But if you want to copy over to a USB drive or external hard drive you sellect no and another message will
pop up asking do you want to copy to you usb then you say yes and it will copy over.. If you look on you external or USB drive after the game copied over you see
there is a “Games” folder and inside that a folder/s with some code as a name, that is your games ID… For Example : “G:\GAMES\BLES00442″
BLES00442 being my game ID and my game is “Disney Sing It High School Musical 3 Senior Year” , so if you search my game ID on the internet you will find
results to sites that advertize Disney Sing It High School Musical 3 Senior Year or even where you can download it from .So now if you downloaded a game, create a
folder rename it to your games ID, and inside that folder you put you game files, files that include the following : “PS3_GAME” ; “PS3_UPDATE” ; “PS3_DISC.SFB”, (Some
games dont have “PS3_UPDATE”) and thats it. If you plug in your USB it will pick up you game and just press X to launch it will ask you to launch without exiting to the
XMB, Some games work like that, and some dont, i always say no ,so it exits to you main screen , then i go to the “app_home” option in the GAME menu and opens that..
This will open your game that you sellected in Multiman
(NOTE: If you get a read error or just a black screen when trying to open the game use this tool :FIX_PERMISSIONS_Waninkoko_Kmeaw_CFW_3.55.pkg )
I only use multiman, the other dont work as good for me. I have tested 7 games, all comfirmed working

    YOUR DONE

Note 1: when trying to copy over to usb drive or external, it must be plugged in your ps3 otherwise you will not get the message to copy over to you usb, just so we clear
Note 2: if you installed the permission fix that stops the black screen and error reading disk, just so you know ,that made my ps3 freese alot, so i installed it only when
adding new games (witch is when you need it) and if i had already run it i would just delete it again, that fixed most of the freezing problem, just something interesting

The problem with a guide like this, is that it's specific to region. You have to install the OFW for your region, and then you need to patch that OFW to turn it into a CFW. So, unless this is for the same region of console, you could get a brick from using these files.

Hrm, news to me. You'd think that if you have to install a firmware for your region, and patch same firmware for CFW, that it would need to be the firmware for your console. Does installing another region's firmware change which PSN you login to, or your region settings for Blu-ray/DVD movie playback?

I think the first link has all the info you will need, read through it a few times and you'll get it.
If you look at the firmware map you'll see in every scenario you need to start with OFW 3.55
