noob with x3max

hi guys,
just bought a x3max for my bro. he's got an 80 gb fat running 3.56. but cant seem to get it to work. i've flashed it with a new hex but no joy. anyone got any ideas?

yes it won't work! you should have done some reading before spending money blindly...

anyway, now you are stuck, no jailbreak with dongles, or CFW, you can try to take your machine back to the shop and try to buy an older one to see if you can get a 3.55 machine, and you won't be needing that dongle those are only for 3.41 machines.

he wasn't patronizing you he was speaking the real the only thing you can do now is either keep the vanilla 3.56 or try and return that ps3 for a older one there are only exploits for ofw3.55 and below and to reiterate what pockets said next time before jumping in and blindly spending money take the time to do some research before hand that way you dont end up on forums like this asking questions you should already know the answer to

If you can, return the x3max, theres very little need for one now. If the ps3 is on 3.56 or 3.60, theres nothing you can do with it at the moment. All exploits and custom firmware exist on firmware 3.41 or 3.55. There is not a current way to downgrade from 3.56 or 3.60 to anything lower. (There is a method involving soldering, but I will not go into it here) It could be months or a year before anything is developed for someone who has a console on 3.56 or higher. Major developers and users are happy with 3.55, all games work and they have access to PSN. 3.56 doesn't add anything of value to the ps3, and neither does 3.60 unless you count "cloud" saving for users who subscribe to the PSN+ program.

Basically, your options are as follows:

1.) Keep the ps3 you have, forget about homebrew. Enjoy the games you've purchased and being able to play on PSN without fear of banning. Return the x3max.

2.) Return, sell, or trade your current ps3 for one with 3.55 or an earlier firmware on it. Return the x3max dongle.

3.) Hold out hopes for a developer to eventually release some kind of exploit for 3.56 or higher. It may never happen, however. If for some reason a downgrade is created, you could use the x3max to downgrade to 3.55. But there are plenty of other ways besides a dongle to downgrade. And before you try, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DOWNGRADE ON 3.56 or 3.60. If you try, the console will be stuck in service mode, and you'll be stuck with a ps3 that can do very little until some kind of downgrade method is created.

He didn't post to degrade and insult a new user trying to do some research. There is no use for you on a forum, unless your willing to help others. This is the best site for information and tutorials about homebrew on the ps3. If you wish to act like you do, there are numerous forums, ps3 related and not, to act like your mentally deficient.

i wasn't patronizing anyone, you have 2 options as i said above:
either you are stuck with that machine, and won't be able to use a cfw on your machine for some time...
or you can take your machine back and try to buy a new one with an older firmware, 3.55 in the case.

Well, you forgot to mention the search option which helps a new psx-scene forums user save some cash instead of spending it on a wonderful hacking device which won't work because he was too stupid to read the faq first!
