Another PS3 noob here but not a noob to hacking as I've done lots to WIIs, cable boxes, PCs etc. I am happy to research my own information regarding details of hacking / methods etc but I haven't got a grasp of the big picture here;:chinscrat let me explain:
As far as I can see all the ways to load backup games onto the internal HDD and play them rely on the firmware being 3.41 or earlier although FW up to 3.55 can be downgraded to 3.41. What is causing me most confusion is that apparently new games eg Skyrim require 3.72 to run, surely this means that the only way to play this game is to buy it?
This seems an unusual situation if true, what am I missing here, do the Jailbroken consoles emulate fw 3.72 etc so the game can be played?
I am happy to have a go at most things but I need to know the best possible outcome before starting. If all I can play is old games then I doubt I'll bother, on the other hand.....
Thanks for any help offered
Unless there is a known fix. A 3.72 fw game will require a console that has 3.72 fw. For example: I am on 3.55 cfw, and I bought Modern Warfare 3, and I can't play it. Unless I update the firmware--which will cause me to not be able to play any homebrew if I do.
i bought skyrim, and it still needs 3.72. im havin 3.55.
