Hey all,
So i'm really new to this ps3 modding scene. I'm trying to make sense of all this JBing and stuff. Basically from my understanding, I need to buy a ps3 key and with that i can downgrade every firmware except the new firmware 3.55, and then I can JB it. After the JB is done I can save games to HDD and just play off there without original disc. Now i'm wondering 1. Is this information correct and 2. Will these games work on the PSN network. Also I was wondering if there is any freeware to JB my console. Usually communities like these will have non paying option for everyone to use to get the most out of their console. But anyways if anyone can help clear this stuff up for me that would be great. Thanks in advance.

1.- Information is Correct.
2.- No PSN until 3.50 is jailbreaked (using the special DNS).

Don't really know which one is the best, I use my N900. So far there are rumors that the X3Max will be the first to jailbreak 3.5 firmware.

A team refered to as Math and Co. has reversed engineered the jailbreak and made it open sourced and free and they named it PSGroove, you can use PSGroove on a programmable USB stick(NO, NOT a flash drive, but a programable USB stick that you can flash hexes onto) if you have one. Then a person named KaKaRoToKS ported PSGroove down to common every day devices such as calculators, cell phones and iPods(just the iPod touch, from what I know at least) and called it PSFreedom. Now from what I know, to use PSFreedom your device needs to be hacked/rooted or whatever its called for that device, if its an android phone then it needs to be rooted, if its an apple device such as the iPhone or iPod Touch then it needs to be jailbroken(at least from what I know), I don't know what you have to do with the calculator though, I don't really know much about what mods/hacks your specific device needs also, I just know about the Android phones(the ones that use the Android operating system) and that they need to be rooted to run PSFreedom. If you don't have a programmable USB stick or you don't have a device that can use PSFreedom or if you don't feel comfortable doing the required mods to your device then it's best to go with a generic USB jailbreak dongle such as a PS3Key, X3jailbreak, or another dongle. I personally use my cell phone(G1) to downgrade/jailbreak my PS3. You can find all the devices that are compatible with PSFreedom here Device compatibility list - PSFreedom Wiki . And if you have anymore questions then feel free to ask, either me or another member will try our best to help you
