Ok, My PS3 currently has GeoHots running backups by edited eboot files.
As of now what is the best way to do this? I know there are new things floating around. What would I need to install, and do I still need to edit eboot files in order to get my backups working?
I have a slim that was purchased right around Christmas of 2010.
Thanks

Best thing to do is get yourself onto kmeaw's CFW. You'll have to re-backup any games you've created packages for/modified eboots as you need all original files to use a BM to load games. Follow this guide here, or any other guide that walks you through the steps: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/cfw...ll-pack-77294/

There is always a chance of bricking but no bricks have been reported so far AFAIK. It's the safest route so far.

I had backed up GT5 before and then ended up FTPing it to my computer for future use, obviously I can't move it to my external because there is a 11gig file on it and the drive is fat32, can I FTP it back to my internal and it work without having to pull my disc out and backup again?

Yes and no. You probably had to modify some files in order to get it to work on 3.41. If that's the case, you can FTP the the game back over, but you will need to replace the files you modified with original files from the disk.
