No sound from ps3 after jailbreak
No sound from ps3 after jailbreak –
Iv been using my ps3 break for a few weeks now however this morning after turning on my ps3 and running the jailbreak I noticed that there was no sound in the xmb or the snea emulator.
So I restarted in normal mode and still no sound in xmb games or videos!
So I tried a ps3 reset by holding power Button in, playing with the hdmi audio settings and even another hdmi port on my tv.
The only thing that I can remember that may be of any consequence is when the jailbreak was loading I plugged in my USB stick into other USB port ready to install something off it, I'm sure iv done this before.
I'm not sure how jailbreak could have broken the firmware or anything because it doesn't write to the NAND chip from what I understand
anways, has anyone got any idea what's going on or what I could do to restore sound it's very...upsetting
Did you try to set your audio back up inside the PS3?
Maybe you reset your audio settings on boot up
I know if you hold down the power button on boot up it will reset the video/audio settings.
If not try some of these
Well I did try an audio video reset and it re detected hdmi settings but still didn't restore sound
Ps3 is currently doing a firmware restore. to my suprise it's actually allowing me to reflash 3.41 onto it
i'll check put the link you sent me
The re update to 3.41 didn't fix it neither did reseting to factory setting in safe mode.
I think I'll test the hdmi cable on another device before doing more software restoring
HDMI TESTED OK
ok so now I'll do safemode restore
RESTORE DID NOT FIX SOUND
so I'm out of ideas
So I guess jailbreaking isn't so safe after all

Was working when i went to bed, turned it off during a movie
Since then I have turned PS3 on, run jailbreak, inserted USB stick during boot up and now no sound.
I have tried full system restores
I have just plugged the PS3 into our second TV (mines a samsung LCD other one is a SONY bravia)
The PS3 IS able to output SOUND to the SONY TV using same HDMI setup.
So I guess something is wrong with my TVs HDMI sound input :S
I have tried multiple HDMI inputs on the SAMSUNG with no luck.
I am about to try a different HDMI device on the SAMSUNG TV

FIX: Went into Settings and it had the option to restore firmware. After running this all sound has been restored.
Wow what an eventful morning. I have formatted away all my game backups and homebrew apps for nothing, was just my stupid TV crashing.
Oh well at least I actually own all the backups I had loaded on there and all media is stored and server so nothing lost :P (backup up game saves before restore)
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I feel the following information is important to the topic at hand.
I, like many others, have also been experiencing the sound and video problems after I started jailbreaking the PS3.
Problems ranging from a flickering screen that randomly turns the screen off and on (which I am able to fix by simply unplugging the HDMI cable from the PS3 and reconnecting it again), to weird pixels that stay behind on the television set after I have already turned off the console (and now recently during gameplay itself).
I've been reading on some sites of others having similar issues after about a week or so of jailbreaking. Just this morning I experienced the NO SOUND problem from the PS3 and, like you, nothing I did seemed to restore the settings.
I never thought of fiddling with the television set until after reading your post, which seems to have solved the problem. I have a DYNEX 1080P 40"inch HDMI television. My solution was to unplug the T.V. first, as well as the PS3 and then, reconnect only the HDMI cables. After that, I reconnected the television set and the PS3.
Once that was done, all I had to do was turn on the devices (TV, then PS3) and presto! No more sound issues. I'm guessing that jailbreaking is somehow, indirectly, causing these sound and video issues to arise since I have never experienced this before until after I started jailbreaking. It's also a bit concerning as it makes you feel as if your going to ruin the console.
Just a heads up to others who may be experiencing the same problems.
