What do you mean by jailbroke? I have used 3.55 KMEAW, 3.55 ultimate, 3.55.2.6 rebug and used my hdmi with no problem. If you're using an old dongle, then I'd suggest updating. First go to official 3.55, then the 3.55 cfw of your choice. Just stay away from wankiko. It was known to cause bricks. Also, when you switch the ps3 settings to use hdmi, you have to use your component video channel on your tv, do the switch, then change the tv channel to hdmi. It will revert back to your old setting after 30 seconds if you don't answer the prompt. Try that first, if it doesn't work, then update to see if it will correct itself

first of all what kind of tv you got? and does it support full 1080p? when i updated mine from 3.41 to 3.55 it reset the video settings. all i had to do was plug up the ps3 via component cables in standard def, then i had to manually set my console to 1080p through the video settings. try that and see if it works you sometimes have to force the resolution from the ps3. it may not be whats wrong but you can give it a shot.

other wise i bet some fuse is blown on the motherboard to the hdmi output. if you ever took it apart i suggest looking over the motherboard to see if you can see anything out of the ordinary (burn marks, blown capacitors, ect ect

on my ps3 even if the settings are on 576i using the supplied av cables, the moment i plug in an hdmi cable and set the tv to that hdmi channel i already get a signal asking me hdmi cable detected do i want to switch settings on that hdmi channel.
anyway, theres no jailbreak wether old or new or cfw that will prevent you from using hdmi.
on the other hand component gives you an equal quality signal to hdmi. the only thing you dont get is uncompressed 7.1 audio and bravia sync.

Dongle and CFW never cause issues like that, maybe it is your tv o your hdmi cable.

I have an interesting issue with HDMI myself. Even though my TV supports 1080p and my Xbox 360 using HDMI 1080p on the same HDMI port has no issues. When I set the PS3 to 1080p, it works for a bit then I get static or flickering and then a blank screen. It's not the PS3 or the HDMI cable as I have 1 Fat PS3 on 3.15 and a Slim on 3.55 and they both suffer the same issue. Weird. 1080i works no problem. At first, I thought there was something wrong with the fat PS3 until I bought a brand new Slim PS3 and had the same issue. Any ideas?

It doesn't bother me too much as most of my PS3 games can only go as high as 720p, but it's annoying not to be able to watch Blu-Rays in 1080p. The TV is an 32" LG if that makes a difference.
