Newbie Advice on Jailbreak w/o working Blu-Ray

Hi

Ive been through guides etc and im pretty up on most things but i have a few questions that a pretty basic.

I have a second PS3 with a screwed Blu-Ray drive. Ive tried fixing it but i think the motor has gone. I was hoping to repair it as the ps3break key i have im sure needs an original blu-ray in drive but ive fixed it once and its died again without virtually any useage.

My question is, are there any solutions out there that basically make the need for the Blu-Ray redundant and dont do the original drive check. I have heard of one or two but was hoping someone who has more knowledge on the subject can point me in the right direction.

I have never tried it since my blu ray player still works. But Hermes 3.41 CFW has great discless compatibility and I hear that you can still play games on consoles with broken bluray pretty much as long as your still on 3.41 or you can downgrade to 3.41 if you haven't upgraded past 3.55...no personal experience with it though.

Excellent thanks, so just install hermes and this does away with the need for the dongles?. Just update the orginal firmware with the hermes cfw?

You got it. You will still have to find a way to get your games on their but you can always FTP the game files over from your pc or maybe borrow a friends ps3 and transfer them ps3 to ps3.

Also download hmanager which auto loads the payload for you while opening up your game manager.
