New PS3 - 3.50 FW - What To Do?

I just got my new slim ps3 with 3.50 on it since my fat one got the ylod. I've been looking around the forums and I'm quite overwhelmed with the amount of material out there in terms of jailbreaking etc. I was wondering if someone can help me out with getting started on my ps3 modding journey. All I really want to do is backup a few of my games since they're getting kind of beat up and maybe get some useful apps along the way. Thanks in advance.

Search the forum for 3.55 CFW…it shouldn't take long as there are alot of people with questions on how to install as well as people making a new tutorial every other day or so….

Update to the OFFICIAL 3.55 firmware via USB stick first before you do anything. It's no longer on the official Sony site but it's floating around somewhere here, I think on the first page of this forum. After you get to OFW, you can follow one of the tutorials to get kmeaw CFW on it.

Don't do it without first going to 3.55 OFW, you'll brick it.

Alright so I got gaia manager 2.06 and ftp running. I just backed up my fifa 11 disc. Is it ok for me to go online with a backup of I game that I own or is it risky? Also, I'm hearing a lot of eboot files....I think that's a file that is necessary to run a game isn't it? What's with all the patching going on? Don't backups contain this eboot file?

EDIT: I just tried running my backup of fifa 11 and it kicks me to XMB (apparently this is what its supposed to do), and then nothing shows up and I get error 80028f14?

EDIT 2: I got everything working with Rogue Warrior Manager
