New to JB

I just bought a PS3 a couple of hours ago. And I'm considering to jb my ps3.
But before that i have a couple questions that i need to be answered. Yes i've been searching here and there but i need to CONFIRM it first. So would appreciate a lot of someone can give me a helping hand

My PS3's current version is 3.40. And I have to update to 3.41 to make it work right? How do i do it? Can i use a normal USB or do i have to use a certain USB that you guys are talking about? Correct me if im wrong, but the Backup Manager stores games/backup games right? Can i install the Backup Manager with a normal USB or do i have to use a special one? If i JB my PS3 will this affect my PSN/online playing since after i install it i wont be able to remove it from my console. Will i get banned if i play normally on ps3 with a legit ps3 CD after i JB my ps3?
And im going to jb my PS3 with a T1-84 calculator in case if you're wondering.

Storage media (Memory Stick™, SD Memory Card, CompactFlash®)* or a USB Mass Storage device such as a USB flash drive
(At least 168 MB of free space required)

Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data. Using a PC, create a folder named “PS3” on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATE”.

Download the update data and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 1.

Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3™ system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.
Location: Save in the “PS3” folder > “UPDATE” folder
File name: Save as file name “PS3UPDAT.PUP”.

Notice
Do not turn off the PS3™ system or remove the storage media or USB device during an update. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange.
During an update, the power button on the system front and PS button of the controller are inactive.
Insert the storage media or USB device that contains the update data in the PS3™ system.
From the home menu, select (Settings) > (System Update), and then press the button.

Select [Update via Storage Media], and then press the X button.

The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device.
Start the update.

Press the X button to start the update. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Confirm that the update was successful.
After the update has been completed, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information].
If the [System Software] field displays the version number of the update, the update was successful.

Then you are ready for the PS3 JB what ever AVR USB you get you load the right Hex onto it and do the JB then using a normal usb stick the one you used to update to 3.41 put Open Manager or what ever OM you want and FTP and install them thats it Enjoy....

There is a new Hex to get on PSN but you use at your own risk as banning you is possible any time with a JB but thats your call JB or no JB that is your choice to make i know what id pick lmfao...

I appreciate that you took your time to write that wonderful post! I've managed to update from my PS3 from 3.40 to 3.41. But now I'm not really sure to JB or not. I just got ONE more question. Just to get this clarified, since i don't want to screw up my PS3 that i just bought today. So you mean that there's a chance that Sony will be able to ban me even when im not using the backup manager? Once again, thank you for spending your time writing that post.

there is a chance sony will ban you if you go online with a jb console.

JB don't screw up your console no way no how if you want to use PSN legit then you will have to update to 3.50 then you cant use JB or an AVR board because it will be blocked and there is no hack for 3.50 not now anyway.
you can use your PS3 JB live on XLink if you don't want to take the chance with the new PSN Hex, turn off automatic updates in your setting as well just encase you haven't already as i said before this is all up to you what you want to do your choice save yourself money or don't .
