NeoGeo on PS3 Help PLEASE!

Alright, first I would like to say how grateful I am to anyone who can help me with this issue. Also that I have done my legwork and tried everything I could, so I've definitely searched the forums and internet entirely for a solution and came up empty handed.

What I am trying to do is emulate NeoGeo games on my ps3. I am on 3.55 kmeaw and have a lot of experience with emulators(just not neo geo!). So far on the system, I have genesis /snes/and gba emulators installed, but can not get neo geo to work. I have tried two things.

1.) I tried to use FBAnext to emulate the neogeo games and nothing. I even followed the tutorial here can't post links, but the title of the video on YouTube is FBAnext MAME Emulator for PS3 Setup Tutorial [CFW 3.55]) which consist of using a file manager and (an ftp client) filezilla to put the roms and bios file in a specific directory and still failed to operate the roms. I've tried it from the HD and a USB drive and both failed.

2.) I installed RETROARCH and again, came up with nothing. Although I admit I don't know what I'm doing with this one, I believe I did everything correctly. I would sincerely appreciate it if someone could get me going with a full tutorial on how to get neo geo roms to play via RETROARCH.

I have indeed placed the neogeo bios file in the same directory as the roms and did not unzip it(nor did I unzip the roms). I have seen multiple people across the internet with issues similar to mine and it seems as if they solved their problems by getting a newer bios file. I have tried two different neogeo bios files now and still fail to play games. The first was about 600kb and the second was 1.2mb. If anyone has the correct/working bios file I would be very grateful if I could get a link.

I have bought the system brand new in it's box(still had 3.15 on it before I put cfw there, and yes it was untouched) for my brother for Christmas. He loves the old games like genesis and neogeo and I really need to get neogeo going before then, so if anyone can help I would be in your debt! Any information is greatly appreciated! Have you opened the "fbanext-ps3.xml" file and confirmed that your ROMS are in the directory listed in the XML file?
