Need and upgrade Road Map

Hey guys i have a ps3 fat and need a little help as to where to go. Ultimately i would like to be on 3.55 kmeaw cfw with rogero manager 8.0 and able to use psn. so i was using 3.41 gaia manager and a ps3break dongle. i wanted to update to a newer firmware to play certain backups. i installed the official 3.55 and attempted to run the blind and blackbox installer and they failed with errors. i then installed geohot's 3.55 cfw. THEN my 40gb sata died. I have installed a new 320gb 7200rpm hd and am now back up and running. My firmware says that i have 3.55 although im not sure if thats geohots or the official. Is there anyway to tell? What should i do to get to my goal "3.55 kmeaw cfw with rogero manager 8.0 and able to use psn" without bricking my system? Thanks in advance

Just install Kmeaw's 3.55 right over top, it's a full firmware so it should be fine.

can i do a direct install or do i need to go into the recovery console first?

if u dont have a install pkg icon in the game xmb row then u are on ofw, and if u want to reinstall 3.55 on top of 3.55 and it doesnt let u via xmb then do it through recovery mode

so it seems i had to go through the recovery console to get back to 3.55 OFW then i had to install kmeaw's 3.55 patched cfw via the recovery console. i installed rogero manager 8.1 and am up and running now. Where should i start next on getting psn working?

Just follow one of the many guides on this forum.

hey thanks for the fast response i will give it a try i have read a lil bit about it(involves spoofing a cert with an FTP) but def going to follow the step by step i dont want to end up with a black brick, thanks again guys
