I have some random 3.55 CFW (I dont remember wich one, it is such a long time ago since I installed it), and Im about to upgrade it to 4.30 rogero.
I am following a guide, and I know I can do it. But I still have 2 questions:
1. How do I check that my NAND/NOR dump is a valid backup?
2. Can I upgrade 3.55 CFW -> 4.30 Rogero, or should I first install 3.55 OFW?
I have a fat 40GB PS3 with a serial that ends with CECHG04.

I would use memdump 0.1 which can be found in the downloads section. I found that MM produced bad dumps through hex editor verification. Memdump worked perfectly for the dumps and everything checks out with HxD. Go to the dowgrade section of the forums and there is a sticky guide that will show you what you need to check.

Thank you all for the help, I have searched around and read about most of these things, I justwanted to be sure Im doing everything right..
I downloaded memdump 0.1 and did a level 2 dump and a flash dump.. Im not really sure about wich one is the right one, I think it is the level 2 one. I downloaded HxD and Im trying to check if the dump is valid now!

In response to GIGAHERZ: " cech-g series is all nand flash type .. so will need a good hands with zero shaking"
What are you going on about? The OP makes it clear that his console is a already on CFW, thereby negating the need to use a flasher to dump the NAND. A flasher would only be used as a safety precaution for disaster recovery in his case.
