Need help playing Blu-Rays without updating
Need help playing Blu-Rays without updating –

I'm currently using a Cobra-USB dongle on my FAT PS3. The other day I rent a blu-ray disc from the redbox but when I boot it. It said I was required to update. I started researching but haven't found anything. I found the PS3 spoofer that was on the front page but it doesn't list any for the cobra firmware 3.55. I also found showtime but I believe that is only for booting from the PS3 and not a dvd. Any help will be greatly appreciated

I was going to suggest a spoofer. You can try out the one on the front page, I have not tried it yet. Or, you could check out Rebug.me and try their spoofer, which should work with Cobra-USB.

A spoofer will not help you. A spoofer is just to help prevent you from updating your system.
When you try to play the Blu-ray, does it actually ask you to update your firmware?

That's an incorrect statement. Actually, a spoofer is exactly what you want. Try the rebug spoofer as tthousand suggested.
I use the Rebug spoofer to watch newer blu-rays. I couldn't believe it the first time I got a Redbox blu-ray and it told me I had to update my firmware version. Installed the 4.00 spoofer for my CFW 3.55 and was watching that video in less than 5 minutes.

Oops. Egg only face, I didn't realize a spoofer did anything beyond helping not to update.
