Need help with blackbox ftp app
Need help with blackbox ftp app –
09-24-2010,10:42 AM
So i tried transfering some files with filezilla. It worked, but it was so slow speed 2mb/s with cable.
I have a cable from my computer to my ps3.
Also, half of the time, ftp on pc gives error i cant list directory, i have tried everything now.
Also i dont really know what settings i should put on the ps3, i just did automatic, and found the ip.
I cant connect using flashxp, or cuteftp, it just gives error, i can however use filezilla.
The problem is, that the program skips files :/
Anyone want to guide me in the right direction

I was experiencing really slow performance like you, along with 100's of failed file transfers via filezilla.
I then followed the filezilla configuration as outlined in the below link, and am now getting transfer rates I would expect (20-50MB/s speed PS3 Internal-->PC via Gigabit LAN) and not one single failed transfer since the changes.
Thought it might help....

STEP BY STEP GUIDE FOR PS3 FTP SERVER Direct Hook Up PS3 To PC No Router
I can NOT take credit for this...I had the same problem as you and I searched for literally hours trying to figure out what the heck I was doing wrong...I knew it was my PC set up incorrectly but could not find any help until I just came across this. I crossed my fingers, followed the steps and it works...I successfully FTP'd into my PS3. Now I have another problem...lol. Also the video says Windows 7, it does work with Vista:
-You Most Have Your PS3 Jailbroke
-You Most Have PS3 FTP Server Insalled
After Hour I Got It Working With A Lan Cable/CrossOver Cable with my PS3 Directily Hooked Up To My PC.
I will Make a better guide but heres how a some simple steps
1. You Need To Bridge you PS3 To Your PC
If you dont know how to bridge here is video I found on youtube that shows you this is not my video, so all the credit goes to the maker
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvUcXUXfk8&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - how to bridge connections in windows 7[/ame]
2. After you make the bridge make sure you connect your PS3 To Your PC With The Lan Cable
3. You Need To Enter Your PS3 Network Setting Manually To Do This Go To You Network Settings On PS3 and select
-Internet Connection Settings
-Custom
-Wired
-Auto-Detect
-Manual
and set up
You Need To Enter Your IP, Subnet,Router,DNS Settings Manully (make sure you use you routers ip address is what you use for Router and DNS settings it is most likely (192.168.1.1 linksys) or (192.168.0.1)
This Is How Mine Looked
IP Address: 192.168.1.129
Subnet Mask: 225.225.225.0
Default Router : 192.168.1.1 (This will depend on you router: ezinearticles.com/?Default-Router-IP-Addresses&id=4341613)
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.1 (Always the same as default router)
Everything else as is (make sure UPnP Is On)
4. After you do a test connection and pass both IP Address and Internet Test You are all setup to use PS3 FTP
5. Now You Need To Install FireZilla Client: filezilla-project.org
6. After you install firezilla make sure to Start The PS3 FTP Server on the PS3
7. Now Start FileZilla For The
Host: use your IP Address That Is Showing On The Screen Of The PS3
Username: FTPD12345
Password: 123 (or whatever you like)
Port: 21
and hit Quick Connect
That It You Can Now See Your PS3 On Your PC with it directly hooked up for faster transfer speeds.
Also real quick optional tutorial:
If you want to really avoid having you PS3 online you need to get your PS3 Block Your PS3 Mac Address From Your Router
To Get Your PS3 Mac Address On Your PS3 Go to:
- Network Settings
- Settings and Connection Status List
- Write down you PS3 MAC address (dont share this online)
- Go to you PC and get in to your router http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.0.1/
- Find You Access Resections section in your router each router is different, and restrict you PS3 Mac Address From Going Online (you have to use the mac address not IP) by downing this you do not have to worry about your PS3 updating while you online
I hope this helps some people or at least sets you on the right path

I too tried Filezilla and was having major difficulties, file transfers would fail etc.
I ended up opeining IE7 putting in ftp://192.168.etc and clicking View>View FTP site in Windows explorer and it worked beautifully.

Actually I don't have that folder.... they all seem to be in hdd0/game/
And that's where I transfered the file and it doesn't show in open manager..
But all my other games are in the same directory and they all show up

its in there you just need to look harder.
when you go into the laun12345 folder you need to create a new directory and name it gamez
