im a virgin to the ps3 jailbreak scene.... i have 4.31 firmware on my ps3 i just got is there a jailbreak for that?

im not a total noob i have homebrew on my wii and i have freemcboot on my ps2

also im sorry if this is in the wrong place for this question

No there's isn't a jailbreak for that.
but, if you console is old enough you'll be able to downgrade it to a firmware that is hackable. Though that is pretty tricky and you have to open up the console.

do i need any kind of special tools.... other then a usb flash drive?

im willing to open my ps3 its pretty old

You need to buy something called a hardware flasher (Proskeet or E3 flasher). Downgrading a PS3 can be quite difficult and may involve soldering.

You need to be on 3.55 to install any CFW.

You are very welcome. Keep an eye on the yet to be released Cobra ODDE. It may work on 4.31 OFW.
