n00b needs help!!!

I am looking to get my PS3 set up to play backup software.....I want to stress the fact that I do indeed own games I intend to back up....I have 3 kids (2, 7 and 15) who are very hard on my games (especially my 2 year old girl) so this seems like a good solution to protect my collection...

First of all, I have a 160GB, USA NTSC PS3 with 3.41fw installed....

I am looking to get an external HDD....is the 2TB Western Digital My book 3.0 a good choice or is there a better value out there?

Also, which USB Key should I get?

There are quite a few jail break dongles to choose from and I want to know which one is best (software support, compatibility, software stability).....the PS3 Key seems to look pretty solid but is it the best?

Also, do I really need a Texas Instruments calculator to to all this??

Again, I am super new to this so any help would be really appreciated

Get a PS3key, I got it and it works pretty well. No you don't need the calculator, the PS3key is enough.

Yes PS3Key is definitely the best especially for n00bs as it is very easy to update. As for the HDD, although it's USB 3.0, it will give u 2.0 speed with the PS3. Just make sure it's formatted to FAT32 to be able to use with PS3

Couple more questions, though (of course)

What is the diff between encrypted and open versions(AVRKey?) of the PS3 key....I am not a hardcore hacker but I did go through the hell required to get my WII to run games off HDD/homebrew channel......is the PS3 flexible enough?

Now, once I get my HDD and dongle hardware, is there a FAQ/walkthrough that shows me how to do it?
