my 1st ps3 coming Tuesday! a few questions about the CFW on the new system

hey guys, im new to the scene and my 1st time getting a ps3, i read a few threads but didnt find the answer i wanted.

1. since im getting a new ps3 from amazon.com will it be possible to use geohots CFW or is it blocked from CFW.

2. i read a few threads saying its impossible to downgrade to 3.41 on the newer systems.


the ps3 is a 160gb slim (i come from the xbox scene, i hope im welcome)

Find a way to 3.41 retail or 3.41 custom from hermes and wait for a stable 3.55(it will not be late)

Well the newest kmeaw 3.55 CFW is quite stable. It did crash ingame two times at the beginning on my ps3 but it stopped now.

Also he's buying from amazon, so it's quite possible it will have 3.55 preinstalled. So he has to use a CFW 3.55.

If I had to guess you'll get a PS3 with factory 3.50 firmware. This means you cannot downgrade past 3.50. Mine came with 3.40 and I tried to downgrade below 3.40 and nothing will take except 3.40 or higher.

There is a few 3.55 CFW out there and nothing has been banned or made dysfunctional yet.. but they are buggy and not working great. I get a ton of freezes. Others have reported success but no love for me and my slim 160.

You will be able to install Geo, Wank, Wutz, or Kmea 3.55 CFW. We just can't say you'll like it. You will be able do return to 3.55 OFW as well.

Kmea 3.55 CFW works fine on my 160gb slim....
