Mkv, dts and ps3 (linux) hacks
Mkv, dts and ps3 (linux) hacks –

Hi there you great people !
First post so I will allow myself to tell you that I'm happy to join you at this interesting time.
My problem is related to MKV with DTS sound tracks :
I have a great audio/video set with onkyo A/V amplifier that manages DTS.
I have a plasma that handles (dnla) AC3 but not DTS
My question is :
should I buy a multimedia gateway or should I just wait to have linux back on the ps3 and then just use vlc ?
I think that waiting is probably the smartest thing to do right now...
Any advice ?
Cheers,
Tamis

Just use PS3 Media Server and stream to your PS3. You can even embed the DTS in stream to your receiver.
CECH-G01 PS3 fat -- 160GB -- 3.55MFW (PS3MFW v0.2)
CECH-2501B PS3 slim -- 250GB -- 3.55MFW (PS3MFW v0.2)

Well waiting 2-3 weeks won't hurt to see which direction things go in. You never know, homebrew developers might not bother with the whole "get xbmc on PS3" thing. I can't see it happening personally, it didn't happen with the Xbox 360. Though with the PS3 the hack is far far easier to do and it works with consoles that are on sale now.
Anyways yeah, give it a few weeks.

Yes, you did.
As stated above, just use ps3 media server.

LOL you indeed did
Streaming it using ps3mediaserver works perfectly..
have been using it for quite some time now and it's just perfect.
with full dts, 1080p and many types of media supported. mkv included.
