Massive dilemma - 3.55 CFW to 3.73 OFW

Hi. I am having a bit of a problem in deciding whether or not to upgrade form Kmeaw's 3.55 CFW to 3.73OFW. The main reason for this is the fact that Arkham City is out and I wanna kill myself cause I can only play it on my 360's fat ass, shitty d-pad, un-recheargable controller

I dont care about losing homebrew even though I have some emulators but I wanna be able to play baddass games like Fifa 12, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, MW3 and Killzone 3 (or anything with a "3" after it ) I'm pretty sure that many others will start to jump ship because of this. I have a few questions regarding the switch:

1. Is it worth waiting for something to happen on the scene (it seems pretty dead) where I will be able to play these games? (3.70+)

2. How do I go about deleting the 20+ games, all homebrew and loaders (anything that Sony will not like ) that I have stored on my PS3's internal hard drive?

3. Can I simply backup the game saves and format the whole thing (and will this do what I have described above?)

4. I have tampered with my trophies from inFamous but have not synced it to the PSN. If the console is formatted, will my old trophies be restored or will I be banned for tampering with them?

If anyone could answer any of these questions, I would be most greatful.

to the OP, you can just delete all homebrew/loaders & games or just format the drive & then update to OFW 3.73, you shouldnt have any probs with trophies & they should re-sync when you log on

The scene is far from dead, especially now, it's simply a matter of time untill you can play 3.60+ games.

honestly i upgraded yesterday with battlefield 3 and skyrim coming i cant let this pass me up, plus my hdd fried and i lost all of my psn content so i needed to get it all back. take it from someone on ofw trophy sync takes about half your life now but other than that by the time we get demonhades cfw and figure out his exploit then dump lv0 we will be that much closer to cfw 3.73 anyways

I've got the same dilemma fella. I have a jailbroken 3.55 PS3 250gb and really want to play the new Battlefield, Batman and also Uncharted when it comes out.

I was going to sell the console on the forums, but not convinced I would get a buyer.

How were you going to update your fw? Just click on update on the XMB?

The Scene is dead unless of course you get excitment form playing 2 bit homebrew games.

Do as i have done, go out and buy an Xbox 360, hack that and wait in the hope that one day the PS3 Scene may come back to life.

Well I ended up going through with it and it was worth it especially seeing as I don't use homebrew. I backed up my game saves and formatted the hard drive just to be on the safe side. Then I installed 3.55 )FW via the recovery menu and went to 3.73 from there. Batman is ****in awesome Plus I got all my PSN stuff back like games, DLC and my old trophies!!!

What I never understood was this. People who have a list, anywhere from 3 or more, of new games coming out that they want to upgrade to play hopefully have just not realized that they can easily get a used PS3 for anywhere from $120 to $200 dollars, roughly the cost of three to five new games at $60. Honestly, if you're going to buy the games, don't. Get a new system now, and get the games later, one at a time. In the time it takes for you to play through, experience everything each one has got to offer, you'll have saved up enough to buy the next game on your list. Add that on to the fact that you will never have this problem again and you're set for good.

As for getting a 360 instead, I'd rather not to downgrade to what I can only see as a totally inferior system.
