Looking to sell my 3.55 CFW PS3 but I have a few questions first

Hey guys, I haven't popped on this site in a long time since I got the YLOD for the 4th time and a useless PS3! But I've now fixed it again and I'm looking to sell it off but I have a few queries. Currently it's only 40GB with no external, I'm wondering if it would be worth spending $40 on a 160GB hard drive and loading it up with some games, would that increase the final sale price I could achieve with it? And what do CFW PS3's sell for these days?

I also wonder, if it's not worth the time and effort to upgrade it, then how do I format the current HDD? Obviously I'd want to remove all my saves and a very old PSN account associated with it. Do I need to go back to OFW, format, then back to CFW? Are there any guides on here that I could follow for this step? It's been so long I can't even remember how I got CFW on there!

Stick with just selling the PS3. Selling a hard drive full of pirated games sounds like trouble.

Fair enough, thanks mate. What about the second part regarding formatting? Does anybody know if I need to go back to OFW or can I just do it straight off CFW?

Seems a shame to update the firmware, but if you do, I'd suggest formatting the hard drive, then updating to OFW 3.55, then again to the latest firmware.

Or you can see if someone will swap ps3s with you. There's plenty of people out there wanting to hack there system but cant because there stuck with new ps3s (un-downgradeable) or don't want to open there ps3 to downgrade. 3.55 ps3s are scarce to come by. I say swap it out with a ofw 3.56+ ps3. It'll be a win win situation for both of you.

Sorry guys it looks like I wasn't very clear in my earlier post. I'm not looking to update it to the latest firmware, I'm going to sell it off as CFW 3.55 and use my 360 until the PS4 is released. I was just wondering how I would go about formatting it with CFW already installed, would it be best to go back to OFW 3.55, format it, then go back to 3.55 CFW? Or could I just go straight off CFW? I don't even remember how to change firmware around anymore, so I'll have to do some serious snooping for a guide.

I originally wanted to know about the value but that was quickly advised against lol.

Just format the drive while on CFW. You will be fine.

Dont go to current fimware, you can get alittle more money for a jailbroken ps3, i know so many people that want a jailbroken ps3
