A Little Help Please. –
01-21-2011,06:18 PM
Ok well I haven't had internet for the whole week and since the last time i was online i read they were about to release a new CFW with Backup Manager Support. Well that happened and i fell Very, Very lost. I have some questions and if someone could help i would fell a little more confident in getting everything set up.
Ok for starters I have GeoHot's CFW 3.55 Installed. My Questions are
1)What is the best CFW out there, that won't result in bricking?
I'm very hesitant that if i do this it will brick and i don't see any time soon if it does brick i can buy a new ps3. I've read that kmeaw CFW has no reports of Bricking. But idk how accurate the info is.
2)Are all games Playable?
I'm talking about GT5,DS2,ME2. Everything. Asking what are the games playable and what arn't.
3)Patches Work & PSN?
I have two games that have patches pre-CFW.
NBA 2k11 and Black Ops. Does This Affect Them in any way? Black Screen that sort of thing. Also can i install patches and still work?
4)Best Backup Manager
MultiMan or Rogero BM Manager? Or What?
5)Finally How To Install the CFW
I Know i might have to go into Recovery mode but are there any special things i have to do?
So if anyone can help out please do.

1)What is the best CFW out there, that won't result in bricking?
Every CFW has its risks, but by personal decision and experience I would say that Kmeaw is currently (21/Jan/11) the best option in CFW for me at least, but who knows maybe tomorrow or next week could be a better one, but as of right now I'll recommend kmeaw.
2)Are all games Playable?
Dont know about all games, GT5 is already working, and for the other 2 you can search on the forum or google for answers.
3)Patches Work & PSN?
Those patches doesnt work anymore as those were created to be able to play on lower firmware, know all you need its the original eboot of both files and start playing, now that your on 3.55 theres no need to patch any eboot as the ps3 its in it latest version... In the game backup forum theres a thread about ORIGINAL unmodified EBOOT
4)Best Backup Manager
Multiman and Gaia both are good, rogero also its good its a matter of preference but i like Multiman more.
5)Finally How To Install the CFW
Follow my tutorial here, if you follow the instructions you shouldn't have any problem. Tutorial

Updates works just fine what im telling you is that you'll need the original eboot.bin from the games, the ones decrypted to work on 3.41 wont work now.
You dont need to delete the games.
Glad to help you.
