All Phats FROM model CECHA (Aug 2006) to CECHG (Oct 2007) with 256MB NAND flash will lose BD movie playback, and ONLY them!
Phats from CECHH 10/2007 with 16MB NAND flash and ALL Slims are safe to downgrade.

Thanks at least that one is clear for everyone. GOOD JOB !
Yeah good clear post, just made me realise how close I came to keeping my blu ray playback![]()
GOD DAMNIT. I have the Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle (80GB backwards compatible) its CECHC so I loose blueray disc playback. Damnit x3max team you better release the 3.50 jailbreak you guys promised >_> I don't really mind loosing Blueray movie playback because the ps3 can play AVI files and stuff, but it sits in the family's theatre room so that would be kind of a no-no.

Thank you so much for this information ;D
My PS3 is a CECHG 02. So I am a tad bit unlucky![]()
i have the CHECHK! so im good to go? i guess having a larger nand is NOT good then? how come recent ones have only 16megs
Good to see this info Eclips3 Jailbreaking & Downgrading HowTo/Guide - Safedowngrading Table finally in a start post to catchup all the uninformed downgraders. I was wondering how long it would take for people to pixelquote (WARNING! RED ALERT! DOWNGRADING KILLS BLU-RAY MOVIE PLAYBACK!).
To bad an edited picture locksout the rest of the guide
Yes
Not for BluRay revocation lists on downgrading, currently. But it does help for fast exchange from one FW to another as mostly the HDD is not formatted (and thus your files/games/OtherOS etc. are untouched).
Cost reduction by Sony since 2007 (and because no added security was seen by having firmware files on NAND instead of HDD). People used Infectus to backup NAND anyway.

Thanks for this useful list!
Is there any regularity on which console the hdd gets formatted (just the slims?) and on which not? If yes, this could be added to another column.
Don't thank me, thank the one who written that guide, I only reposted the screenshot here wednesdayCredit to those who deserve credits
To answer your question: that is also in that guide from Dec 8, 2010(under section D
)
Only 256MB NAND have possible non format issues (no HDD dataloss on downgrading), but do have bluray issues.
