kmeaw's CFW does unlock DVD region!!!

Guyz, this is something I didn't knew, and I googled about it and I didn't found anything!!

My PS3 is one CHECHA launch version, so it plays only DVD region 1 and Blu-Ray region 1 too.

Since i'm from Brazil, I can play Blu-Ray, cuz they are region 1 like in the USA.

But our DVDs are region 4. I tryed to play DVD region 4 a long time ago, but no sucess of corcy. I have kmeaw istalled since it was released, but just now I tryed to play my DVDs, and for my surprise...

All of them works perfectly!!!

So happy! The PS3's upscalling is very very good also!

Repeating: My CHECHA01 plays DVDs region 4 after kmeaw CFW!!!!

Woaa!! Could it be working just for some models? I wonder...
Btw, I never ever saw someone saying about region unlocking with this CFW, but why is it working for me?
Seems kmeaw forgot to say about this?

Anyone with CHECHA01 could test for us too?!

yea i read that wrong. you're sure the disc is region 4? i just tried a region 2 disc with a region 1 system and got an error as well.

If your system is made in Mexico that would mean your BD region is set to 1 and your DVD region is set to 4, try to look that up.

Yeah guys, i'm sure!!!

My ps3 is CHECHA01, I couldn't play region 4 DVDs using OFW, but with kmeaw's CFW I can play region 4 DVDs!!

Maybe he developed this CFW using an mexican ps3??

I'm from Brazil too, and for you knowledge some DVD's come with Region 1 and 4. Even if on the box is only region 4.

Wooaah!!! Don't say that! You may be right! I tested other DVD region 4 and it didn't played, while some others plays fine.

I'm in the USA, and have purchased some PAL DVDs. I'd sure appreciate it if the CFW / JB DEVS (I'm currently on 3.41 Hermes 4b) could look into making the PS3s region free,and able to play PAL video. Note, these are two different things. I copied one of my PAL dvds and made it region free, and instead of giving me a region error, it said something like, ("This PS3 cannot play PAL video"). So it's not just the region coding thats tripping up my PS3. Sucks that my old $50 Norcent DVD player from 15 years ago plays them fine, but my upscaling PS3 can't.
