kmeaw_cfw. 3.55 help

i searched so flame me if you must.....i bought a ps3 phat from a friend already on 3.55...this is what i have done.
created a folder ps3 then UPDATE on my usb stick.
put in the cfw in the update folder.
went to recover mode or whatever with the power on of 2 beeps guide and did #6 to update.
goes through the first part before the restart fine then after the restart it says
the latest system software is already installed there is no need to update..

what am i doing wrong or how do i fix this problem? its never been modded in any way.. please help

Did u try any other CFW?
For example, i still using Geohot's one. And it's worth a shot.
Try this one, after that u can update with Kmeaw

where do i find it. his site has been takin down and i cant find a download link on this site. part of my problem is frustration

Well seems like all website had geo's cfw removed.

I installed it on my phat PS3 from the xmb (ie did you try it without using recovery mode first?)

ok got it installed and then installed mutiman and ftp server but when i click on them it says a error has occered. now what im getting frustrated
