Kmeaw vs Hermes 3.41 vs Waninkoko CFW
Kmeaw vs Hermes 3.41 vs Waninkoko CFW –
I'm on 3.41 OFW and I'm not sure which fw I want to upgrade to. I don't plan on going online until 3.56 or 3.60 CFW comes out. I'm not sure what the differences are.
1. I know Kmeaw has to be patched every time I want to run a backup manager, but does Hermes 3.41 has to be patched each time I turn on my ps3? What about Waninkoko?
2. How's the game compatibility on each one of the cfw?
3. Which one would you recommend?
I'm no expert but I chose 3.41 hermes
Mainly for the fact that you lose third party controller support on anything over 3.41
3.55 has the same compatibility as 3.41 however 3.41 requires you to modify eboots which are easy to find on 3.50 + games make sure to keep originals
3.55 offers 3d play back support
and yes hermes has to be patched every time, but Multiman and a few other managers have the patcher built in so you do not need to use run anything other then your back up manager on 3.55 this is not true for 3.41 which you just need to run a separate file
Kmeaw and hermes are about both equally safe expect one uses pl3 and others hermes payload
wanniko caused a lot of bricks with his first attempt at cfw he made a second one using hermes code for the payload instead of pl3 I can not speak for the safty of either though
For now I'm sticking with hermes
All CFW's must be patched if you want to run a Backup manager. Hermes is good but it is a pain in the ass with all this modded eboot crap and if you do upgrade then you must re-do all that work for the modded games as they only work with 3.41. I see no need for 3.41 when Kmeaw never crashed for me, nor Wanikoko or Wutangrza. I have three PS3's on is a 40gb with a bad laser that only works sometimes but doesn't effect my ability to run CFW's as the board is great just the laser is really weak. Anyhow I have had no stability problems with any CFW other than having to mod eboots for 3.41 so some games run on the managers others from the XMB, IMO it is a mess. syscall36 aka Hermes is used on all the 3.55 CFW's now as well so the question is why would you want 3.41 unless you are a cheap ass and only buy shitty third party pads.
PS3 CECH-2501A [CFW] & CECH-3001 [OFW]/ PS2 SCPH-3901 & SCPH-7501/ PS1 SCPH-5501
Mod Cobra 4.46 v7.00 w/ E3 Flasher [CFW] & Cobra ODE 4.50 [OFW]/ Mod HDD-OSD [Phat] & Modbo 4.0 [Slim]/ Mod MM3
HDD 1tb [CFW] & 640gb [OFW]/ HDD 640gb & OPL v0.92 w/ 1.5tb SMB
Waninkoko v2 For sure with Rogero Manager is as easy as that
Kmeaw does not have to be "patched" every time. It does not have to be patched at all since managers have started integrating syscall36. So, i repeat, no patching or additional PKG installs or modified EBOOT's are needed.

That's it. Nothing else. Multiman supports both disc and discless mounting of your backups since v1.14.02.
Kmeaw also supports installing of Geohot signed and unsigned packages.

ALL WORK, NO FREEZES. Virtually every game i've tried on Kmeaw+syscall36 runs perfectly.
I had random XMB an game freezing while on Waninkoko V1 and while using LV2.pkg.
No freezes ingame or XMB since managers started using Syscall36 on Kmeaw.
Using Multiman as my backup manager.
Some say it's stable, but if you read the release thread, you'll notice that most people have the same problems as with LV2.pkg and Waninkoko v1.
Waninkoko v2 uses a mix of Hermes and some PL3(aka LV2) functions.
Since it has some of its functions, it inevitably may have taken over some of its bugs too.
One other minus is that you can't install homebrew signed with Geohot keys.
It has to be resigned.
Well, it's a hassle since you need to use modified EBOOT and param.sfo files on games that require 3.50 or newer firmware.
Kmeaw 3.55 has everything that you had on Hermes 3.41, and you eliminate the need for patching EBOOT's and sfo files.
Kmeaw 3.55 + Multiman 1.14.02 or newer would be my recommendation.

Once you install Kmeaw 3.55 CFW, you don't need to touch it.
Backup managers are simply updated if needed.
Hermes 3.41 is now obsolete for most users, with not many practical uses compared to any 3.55 CFW.
And Waninkoko v2 is an integrated payload firmware.
Which means, if Waninkoko ever has to fix a bug in his payload mix, you have to flash your firmware again to update. Which is always risky.
Kmeaw has a lot of freezing problems lol .. Waninkoko V1 and Nor V2 Never froze on me once
Kmeaws has only froze on me once since I started using it. Guess I'm lucky.
Judging by your sig, you've never used Kmeaw.

Facts DO matter more than hearsay.
I've used 3.41 dongles, 3.55 Geohot, 3.55 Waninkoko v1 and 3.55 Kmeaw(used LV2+manager, now using Multiman 1.14.02 with integrated syscall36).
Kmeaw 3.55+syscall36 managers combo has given me ZERO freezes so far.
Waninkoko V1 on the other hand froze like sh*t in my case. In XMB, of all places.
Not even LV2/PL3 pkg caused XMB freezes as much as Waninkoko.
as long as FreeFlash or Mount_Alejandro are not working for 3.55 cfws i will stay on 3.41hermes. also i have no 3.50+ game right now.
a 3.55hermes cfw with integrated payload would be nice. but this is only my opinion...
Integrated payload CFW's are now useless since the "payloads" are now integrated into managers.
Keeps things cleaner, since you only need to update your manager if a payload update or fix comes out.
You don't have to flash your firmware.
And what use do you have with FreeFlash or Mount_Alejandro if you are not a dev?
