Gonna upgrade the int hdd on my 40 gb ps3. been long over due. Just curious if everything will still work ok. Does the hdd have anything to do with the firmware. Will I have to reinstall kmeaw 3.55 back on. I m thinking no right. just the homebrew and whatever saves. anybody's input is appreciated.

When you put the HDD in, it will ask you to format the drive. It will ask you for a USB Drive with the currect FW on it (unless you have one of the Phat 256mb nand models). I do not know if using the Kmeaw will be fine, or if you should go back to OFW first.

I was fine when I just did it plug and play, but I hear some people say to stay on the safe side by switching to ofw first.

If its a fresh hdd with no previous cfw/ofw on it, then flash the cfw on it without putting an ofw on it first. But, say you had 3.41 on that hdd you want to switch in. It would be a safe bet to flash 3.55 ofw then 3.55 cfw to prevent errors.
