Just got a 60gb PS3, what are my options?

Well I just scored a 60gb PS3 for $40, unfortunately it's on OFW 3.72

I am a little behind on the ps3 scene, so I was wondering what my options are at this point. I don't really do any soldering so installing any kind of downgrade I think is out of the question as far as I know.

I was also wondering if swap magic is still my only option for running PS2 homebrew such as OPL.

Should I just update to the newest OFW, or is it worth staying at 3.72 for any reason?

If you're not going to downgrade, upgrade to the latest OFW, there's no point in staying on 3.72.

Thanks for the input guys, what about ps2 homebrew on it, is swap magic the only option, and it doesn't matter what firmware its on for ps2 homebrew right?

Cobra USB does the job not sure if swap magic works on the 3.55 or not .
