Just Bought my PS3, I have to upgrade to 3.56 to sign up for PSN?

So I just bought my first PS3 this week and thanks to some of you all's wonderful guidance I am in the process of jailbreaking it. I really want to sign up for PSN, because if I'm not mistaken, that is the only way to play online, correct? The problem is, it is saying I must upgrade to 3.56 before it will let me register. From what little I know, I know that I should NOT upgrade to 3.56 right now. But I want to register. Is there a work around?

Playing online is almost as, if not more, important to me than jailbreaking. What should I do for now? Should I just upgrade to 3.56 so I can enjoy online play and continue using my gamefly membership until a CFW 3.56 comes out, then jailbreak and use backups once that happens? Or do I have other options? Thanks!

Thanks for not reading a single thing on the front page. Really! I mean, there's just a front page news with BIG RED LETTERING that says Sony is dropping the banhammer if you're getting online w/ a hacked console. Then a couple of stories down there's a howto of how to get online. But no, you can't be bothered w/ looking up anything and instead you make a new post. Welcome to the forums!
