Just another noob first questions.

I'm very new about PSJB, I know I must use OFW 3.4.1 and PS3 usb dongle but that's about it. My PS3 is running 3.4.1.
These are my questions:
1. My goal is simple, I want to be able to backup and play all my PS3 games from external/internal HDD as well as play ANY PS3 games I can find. What PS3 usb dongle works best for this? what's the best PS3 dongle anyway? I read about PS3GO,X3Max,E3.
2. I know some games works only on newer OFW, how will they work on PS3 with OFW 3.4.1?
Sorry if the question is too simple. One suggestion, it would be good to have a newbie forum.

hi
dude its up to u but if i was u i wouldnt stay on 3.41 , goto this link and follow the tut, read carefully and take your time an u will be fine, once u done the tut u will be able to play anything thats out there pretty much, as for games playing on internal only, it means mainly if any game that u are trying to copy to external has any files that are bigger than 4GB then the game has to go on internal, get it ?

BTW get GAIA 2.07 as thats the latest version.
BTW2 if your looking to go play online then i suggest u go grab ****Psn-v0.5-PumpleX , if u search these forums u will find it.

Thanks for the reply. I know about 4gb fat32 limitation.
Are you saying the better way to psjb is load it using cfw instead of usb dongle?
If i stay in 3.41, i can only use dongle and if i upgrade to 3.55, i guess i can only use cfw. What's the pro and cons between dongle and cfw?

You really just need to do some reading! Kmeaw CFW 3.55 is the way to go PERIOD! There is NO pro's to 3.41 over Kmeaw CFW 3.55. If you look around...you will see...nearly all the talk is about CFW...not about 3.41 and dongles.

3.41 cfw has better discless compatibility and is more stable so yes there are pro's

Everyone is talking about cfw but psx-scene page itself is full with ps3 dongle ads

i'm still neutral and still dont know which path i should go. By looking at peppsi's reply, i would go for dongles (3.41 cfw) as it has better discless compatibility which I assume more games compatibility. I also assume using dongle is more stable and lesser risk of bricking but the downsides are i need to plug it whenever i boot up my ps3 and i need to buy one. I guess this is like tethered vs untethered.
To widen my knowledge, i'd change my question, not about pro/cons but what can/cant dongles (on 3.41) do? and what can/cant cfw (on 3.55) do?
Anyone care to share this info?
