So what do You think ?? If i should stay with 3.41 or go for 3.55 CFW ..

    - I have Blue-Ray discs and i love to play it
    - Gran Turismo 5 works?
    - Can I brick my ps3
    - Whether my backups from 3.41 will stay on internal when i will install CFW?

    Thanks for Answers

Personally, I prefer the 3.5 CFW. It has everything that the 3.41 jailbreak has and it doesn't require a dongle. I'm using kmeav's firmware and everything works fine.

    -Blurays work
    -GT5 works. (With 1.05 update)
-Only with Waninkoko's firmware, you have a high chance to brick your console. The others have been safe)
-Your backups will remain on the internal drive and they will work. (The ones requiring 3.50 and higher will have to be unmodified to work)

it migth not be the best idea. Try to update offical 3.55 then kmeavs in recovery mode. There are plenty of tutorial about which step you should take.

Update to 3.55 OFW first, then install kmeav's cfw on top of it.

i thought you could only use homebrew that has been signed
so what homebrew has been signed?
where can i find a list of signed homebrew?and a list with with links to the pkg's
and if a homebrew app is signed is it automaticaly going to work with all the different custom firmwares that are out now,or does it need to be altered and signed to work with each different cfw?
i thought that geohot was the only one that had a signing tool?does he have a fake signing tool and an actual signing tool?or do we have a fakesign tool but only geo has an actual one?i am really confused about this
i dont know why we need custom fw when we can sign things anyway
does anyone know if failoverflow has released everything yet or are we still waiting for something else from them to be releaed,i know they released something like the dy after sony filed suit againnst geohot

and i am guessing that all the old games that never worked with the jailbreak will now be able to run from backup now ,because the jailbreak payload took up some space in memory that the games needed to run ,which is why they didnt work ,so has anyone confirmed the old non working black screen games to work?i mean every game should now be able to run from backup right?what about discless?

That is only applicable to Wutangrza's + geohot's CFW because geohot coded the firmware so that it installed homebrew needed to be signed with the 3.55 keys. kmweav's CFW does not have this implementation and allows any unsigned packages, just like the 3.41 JB does.

I'm not too sure how signed homebrew work across firmwares. However, unsigned packages can be installed if the firmware is coded to accept them.

Games that required 3.42 or higher should now be able to play on 3.55 kmweav. However, they need to be unmodified. Also, some games such as Black Ops still require the use of a disc in order for it to work.

so in your first reply under my quote you are saying that if i use waininkoko or wutangrza i can use the same .pkg files to install my homebrew as i did with the 3.41 jb?why would it be different with wutangrza+geo fw?i thought wutangrza was a hybrid of both in 1 pup, so wouldnt i be able to use signed or unsugned?or is it a patch, like install wutangrza then install geo ontop of it ,or the other way arround, like install geo first?

so if i have wutangrza or wutangrza+geo i should be able to use all reg 3.41 .pgk files for homebrew except for backmanagers, right?unless i use the lv2patch.pkg at every boot then i can use a regular unsigned 3.41 manager.pkg right?

how came it says in the first post under kmweav,in summary that you need to reinstall your .pkg files and that they need to be signed for 3.55 and that only geohot had the tool to sign them?
dude now i am REALLY REALLY
confused, which is it can i use my old 3.41 .pkg files to install homebrew apps like emulators and stuff with these new cfw's like waininkoko, wutangrza, wutangrza+geo, witangrza+geo+k mweav, wutangrza+kmweav or not, cause it looks like EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE SIGNED BY GEOHOT,&ONLY GEOHOT HAS THE SIGNING TOOL
that what it says in the first post of the kmweav thread anyway
so where do i get 3.55 signed .pkg files for all my apps???????if he has to sign everything??,i thought he wasnt going to sign managers so where are the manager signed by geohot comming from if geohot isnt going to sign them??does this mean i have to wait till geohot signs every single peice of homebrew?can you pleas list the cfw's that can use unsigned .pkg files and then list the ones that dont(if any),and tell what apps have been signed for the ones that need signed apps

cause i thought kmweav wasnt a cfw ,i thought it was a just a pkg file that you use with wutangrza ,or if you have wutangrza+geo installed,
because in the first post about kmweav its referd to as both a patch and cfw ,so now im confused is it a cfw, like is there a.pup? or is it just a .pkg ,the lv2.pkg file?

then it says in the first post something like it said about using bspatch in dos to apply the wutangrza patch to flukes to make it into wutangrza and make a .pup, why is that there is it to apply the lv2.pkg patch directly into the .pup so you dont have to run the lv2.pkg patch at every boot up,or do you need to do both?

I went straight from 3.41 to all three CFW (Wan, Wut, and Kme) with no issues. But there was an issue I had experienced freezes, delays, black screens. Now sure if was because of how I did the updates or if the firmwares are wonky. But each firmware only got about 3 hours testing before I went back to 3.41. It maybe the way my HDD is too now after repeated backup, restores, and downgrades. I'm gonna try with a fresher start.

But I did it and will do it again on my slim 160gb cech-2501a came with 3.40 originally and LBP GOTY.

The lv2.pkg file is used on both firmwares. kmweav's patch comes in two flavors depending on how you want to use it:

The .pkg file installs on top of wutangrza's + Geohot's firmware to allow you to play backups. (So you don't have to reinstall everything) kmweav also released a custom firmware patch for 3.55 OFW that you can compile and install. The difference is that kmweav's allows unsigned packages to be installed and has the option for /app_home/PS3_GAME/
