Jailbreaking for noob –
12-22-2010,01:17 AM
I have read the faq and still some some questions.
1. I bought a PS3 slim 160gb from Amazon yesterday and it is a 3.41.
2. I do not have a psn but when i try to register for one it says i have to upgrade the system.
3. I would like to jailbreak my system but what is the best way?
4. Can I make my own jailbreak usb rather than paying $100+?
Would really appreciate it
Just jumped ship from xbox 360
TIA

Get the schematic for it and have it printed and then flash it yourself.
No you can't play on PSN with the jailbreak.

1. You probably want to stay at 3.41, seeing as it is the most common to hack. Hermes Payload only works on 3.41.
2. You can not get a PSN account until someone figures out how to get us back on PSN. Or, you could update to 3.55, and get one, but lose you ability to jailbreak until someone figures that out.
3. There are several ways to hack the ps3: Mobile Devices, Calculators, PS Jailbreak & Clones, and USB Development Boards.
4. You can get a clone, or a USB DEV Board for around $20 (plus or minus). If you live in the US, I suggest www.VGCRepairs.com for all of you Jailbreak needs. Or, if you have the right mobile device or calculator, you could use that. I do not know anything about DIY devices, but it can be done.

I have the ps3break v1.1, the maximus avr usb 1.2 (atmel), and the x3max. I use the ps3break the most. There is a REVIEW section up above you can check out to see if there is a review on the AMAZEBREAK: Reviews - PSX PS2 PS3 Scene Modchip & Jailbreak Community
I do not know how to make your own. Possibly start a new thread and ask the community (they might just tell you the information is out there and to seach). You will need to know what you are doing. You make the board from scratch, not from an extra USB you have laying around. Bread Board, Wires, Circuits, that sort of stuff.
This is the next one I am going to get, you should think about getting it too:

I updated to 3.55 because my system would not let me play call of duty black ops until it updated
so i guess I will wait now until omething comes up for 3.55
PS3> xbox 360
cant belive it took me so long to jump ship

..:: x3MAX.COM ::..Official Website may have a surprise for us this xmas! They have been claiming a 3.5X jailbreak. But it could be BS!
You might have your answer in a couple of days, be sure to check back @ psx-scene for all the latest news.
Sony will most likely be releasing a 3.60 firmware soon, and it is going to be advised not to update to that one as well.
