jailbreaking on a 3.30
jailbreaking on a 3.30 –
Trying to do my first jailbreak on a 60gb ps3 running 3.30, that doesn't have a bluray drive connected.
I'm using psfreedom on my n900 which should just be plug and play all i have to do is
turn ps3 off at switch
turn on ps3
press power then eject within 0.2 sec
and it should install hermes 3.41 or pl3 depending on my selection
but it just has a green light on the ps3 and nothing else happens, left it over 10mins
Why jailbreak 3.30 when you can easily go to jailbroken 3.55? I don't understand why people are sticking to firmwares pre-3.5X or even 3.4X.
You should try booting into service mode and install ofw 3.55. After installing that then trying install a cfw 3.55. I'm running Kmeaw and it works great. Btw, why are you still using a dongle???
you'll need to flash the cfw that specifically does NOT look for a bluray drive, otherwise it will NEVER finish flashing and probably get you stuck in an infinite reboot loop. regular ofw and cfw look for the bluray drive to finish flashing. specifically, the bluray drive controller, and it doesnt even have to be the one that came with it - it can be un-married/ANY bluray controller
there's a geo and kmeaw version of 3.55 that skips bluray check. i don't have the link with me right now though
Don't Feed The Trolls Past Midnight
i was planning on marrying a bluray drive first, so i'll put oone together with the card i got with the machiine. I also need to downgrade it more first as i reread the tut on it and it only works on 2.30 as mine is a 60gb fatty
the bluray controller card you got with the console is or is not the original? you might not have to re-marry at all! keep in mind that during this process of downgrading, if you DONT somehow get the details of the flashes (flash0/1/2), you WILL lose bluray MOVIE playback. if you have access to a jailbreak dongle, use it to ftp to a connected computer to SAVE that data, then go about the bluray drive re-marry. once it's been successfully remarried, FTP the contents you previously saved back into the exact location you copied and bluray playback should be restored. i did the process once, in the VERY beginning when it was first figured out how to do it. it wasnt well documented since there was a bunch of random people all trying to explain the process and i had to gather data from multiple people's explanations to come up with a working re-marry procedure, but in the end i ended up with a ps3 that couldnt play bluray movies. it's ok though, for me, since i have other ps3s for that purpose - this one was obtained with the idea of jailbreaking it to run personal code and the occasional game backup. heh, i basically got it for free (missing a bluray drive & control card, but i had a spare). some guy i met wanted a ps3 slim original black case, so i bought myself a cyberchrome case and traded my stock black case for a fat ps3 missing a bluray drive... i think i ended up with the better deal!

You can always roll your own CFW with the MFWBuilder. It lets you disable the BD checks.
I highly recommend this method.
