I think because its illegal in Hong Kong they have traced it from there to my city and seized it to use as evidence.
PS Jailbreak Compatibility:
Looking for any PS3 firmware, see here:
if its illegal in hong kong you cant get them from hong kong to uk
if you bought it from hong kong, and (from past experiences) it would go through germany sometimes to get to UK
if it was legal in hong kong, ae, all the other places it goes through including its destination in UK, but its illegal in germany, it would be seized simply due to the fact that it has reached their port...
people are freaking out he has lost £300 and "not bothered" i am sure it bothers him, but what can you do ?? why get worked up over something you cant control..
if its not illegal, UK is definitely under Sony's radar too.
see from console-hideout.com in regards to PS3 Break:
"The PS3Break Product has been withdrawn from our website as Sony's Solicitors have been in contact with Console-Hideout Ltd to challenge their use as being in breach of copyright laws, something that Console-Hideout Ltd does not encourage.
We have been asked to comply with Sony on this and will do so as much as we can.
Please be aware that we will issue refunds to all those who preordered from Console-Hideout Ltd over the coming days.
All refunds have now been processed. Thanks for your patience."
Thats it at the end of the day I cant do anything customs arent going to refund me and I bet the company I bought them off are now closed and why would they refund its not their fault they got siezed. I'll just have to do some saving and go for another option when it comes up

Sony vs Playbackups.com case is defining UK law –
The Jailbreak case in the UK is on hold. The product Sony describe as "illegal" has not been ruled on yet,
because Playbackups.com is fighting Sony in the High Court. Every other company in the UK has complied with Sony and signed their paperwork admitting that the Jailbreak product is illegal.
Playbackups is fighting Sony because, like Spain, we are part of Europe. The Spanish courts ruled that the product is legal because it reinstates a function that the Playstation3 was advertised and sold as having. The OtherOS function was removed by Sony illegally and its removal breached European law.
So the simple answer to the thread question is:- no PS3 Jailbreak is not illegal, contains no Copyright code and is currently legal, but anyone stocking the Jailbreak in the UK will receive attention from Sony's solicitors (Freshfields) in London. They will demand that you surrender any stock of the device and sign paperwork saying you have acted illegally. If you wish to fight them, it will cost you a LOT of money.
You can get information on the Jailbreak case from the only company refusing allow Sony to ban a perfectly legal device: Sony PS3 High Court Jailbreak Lawsuit Injunction Playstation3 news ps3break ps3key
