    Hi all,

    Sorry for the Noobie question.

Is it possible to jailbreak a PS3 slim CECH-2102A on OFW v3.5? Or is there a way to downgrade it to 3.41?

I have a couple of Jailbreak dongles at hand to do this.

    Thanks.

As xipi said, forget dongles, they are a pain and a half to keep on inserting and doing the power cycle every time you switch of your console. Also apps that are being developed are only for 3.55 now a days and not 3.41, you very rarely see apps for that firmware, also getting games to run on 3.41 can be a hassle as you would need to change the eboot of a file which is a pain. Hope that it is clear to you that a dongle is useless now a days as compared to Custom Firmware on 3.55

Just to remove any doubt, xipi and TitanTX are giving sound advice. I know when I did this I checked and double checked many times to be sure I was doing the right thing. 3.55 custom firmware for the win.

Also, for future reference, be very wary of new custom firmwares that come out (especially if they claim to be for 3.55+). You should want to wait a little while to make sure it's legit, and even if it is 'legit' and coming from a respected dev. Earlier this year Waninkoko release a CFW that bricked some systems. I'm so glad I tapped the breaks on that.

there's always Cobra USB, the power cycle is no longer needed on 3.55, they have PS1 backups, better disc-less support, partial (buggy) PS2 backup support, region-free BD a DVD playback, etc...

    Thanks all for the replies.

Please confirm that this mod is SAFE with all SLIM PS3s.

It look like it is as simple as updating to OFW 3.55 and then to CFW 3.55

    Thanks all.

That is correct. You can visit here to find out if you console if downgradable (hint: your's is ).

And then yes, it is as simple as going to the front page, and checking out one of the CFW/NFWs there, where you will find the OFW 3.55 as well as instructions on how to install both

Or, if you are old fashioned, take a look at the PS3 Collection link in my sig, there you can find a CFW section, that has 3.55 kmeaw, 3.41 hermes, etc.

Then there is always ps3mfw.com, where you can learn to make MFW.

And rebug.me, where you can unlock developer options, and other tools

Also gitbrew.org, where you can find QA Flaq Tools (CFW Downgrades! ), and OtherOS++ Tools.

    Thanks.

Does the CFW have any issues on blu-ray playback?

    Cheers.

Slim PS3s weren't affected by the Bluray problems a while back. You'll be fine.
