Jailbreak PS3 on OFW 3.50 and 3.66?

Hello I’m new to the site and ps3 hacking so hope to have a pleasant stay

I have 2 ps3 and wanted to know if I can Jailbreak them to run the many homebrew apps available, is downgrade the only option?

The first ps3 is on OFW3.50 and the other PS3 is on OFW3.66 they are both slims.


Apologies if a similar question has been asked already, its just that all google and psx-scene search only talk about 3.55 and the sticky that says “For those on v3.56 or v3.60 or v3.61 or v3.66 or v.377- NO Downgrade, NO Jailbreak and NO CFW!” was posted on the 02-06-2011 and now we’re almost at 2012, so hoping things have changed since.

Hello and welcome to the scene...
You can jailbreak the 3.66 but you will have to do a downgrade which will be more of a process to do but the 3.50 will be a whole lot simpler of a process to work with. For the 3.50 just download official 3.55 fw than download 3.55 cfw kmeaw.

Thanks for the response however I was unable to get it working, the OFW before the HDD failed was 3.66, I looked everywhere on the net but couldn’t find OFW 3.66 so I updated to the next lowest OFW that is OFW 3.70, now my question is.

Is it possible to downgrade without the need of Teensy Progskeet to OFW 3.55?

I’ve read that you can jailbreak OFW 3.70, would this allow me to run a downgrader of some sort?

Please let mm know if my there is other method to downgrade from OFW3.70 to OFW3.55, if the only method requires Teensy Progskeet programmer soldered in then I’ll be better off selling this on ebay and buying another PS3 with FW3.55
