Jailbreak ps3

Hi Guys,

I own a phat ps3 which is jailbroken. my friend just bought a new ps3- 3006 series and it came with firmware 3.73, which cannot be jailbroken at this stage.

question is, i have heard many saying that the newer ps3 has new hardware which prevents jailbreaking from happening. Is the current jailbreaking based a patch on the firmware or is it hardware based?

Hardware's got nothing to do with it.
It's all down to the firmware, which has closed the jailbreak backdoors (so far...)

so am i right to say that if a jailbreak solution becomes available, it's not restricted to the hardware? thanks.
